If you have a cleaning lady....

Recommended Posts

Ours comes twice a month and is $65 each visit so $130 a month and we usually tip her cuz she does a great job and is a sweetie. We have a 1800sq ft townhouse (2bedroom, 2.5 bath). I dont blame you for getting rid of that gal that was breaking stuff and all. Thats not cool!

Our house is 2200 sq feet and we pay $80 per clean...and have the house cleaned bi-weekly. So far it's working out great for us. She's really nice. She's not doing any 'extras" or anything like that, just basic cleaning. But that's what we hired her for so it's all good.

I swear that's the best money we spend each month! lol!

$100 every 2 weeks....and my house is 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, 2600 square feet with 2 hairy dogs!! But i always was like you - felt like she wasn't doing good work, but was too afraid to say anything...so now i have put her on "hold" - the $200/month is nice...having to vacume and clean - not so nice.

Thanks for all the input ladies. On one hand I feel like I was being ripped off- but then again I think it's where you live.

HArtyt- this is seriously the best money we spend because FI hates cleaning and early on it caused lots of silly arguements and my being passive aggressive when he left all his stuff all over the place. Now- he just pays which is fine with me because I do all the in between upkeep for the most part.

** he does dishes though :)

I haven't had a house cleaner in so long! I miss it and really want one now after reading everyones post!

We had some friends visit this week and I had asked FI to clean the guest bath (I cleaned the rest of the house), and the morning our friends were supposed to arrive I peaked in the tub as I was leaving for work and it had not been touched (I bathe the dogs in this tub and had used it two days prior, so I knew what it looked like). LOL- when I asked him about it he said "I put the scrubbing bubbles in there, it should be clean". OMG! I know he is smarter than that - he just didn't want to do it. Luckily these are close friends... and the tub really wasn't dirty to begin with... because I didn't have time to do it.

now that i'm reading thru and discovering that everyone has a cleaning lady except me (and harty), let me ask you - what are the norms of a regular cleaning lady/person? like will the person open the windows and clean between the storms and screens? will they clean the tops of fans and the tiles in the shower? i don't mind vacuuming and cleaning the sinks, and i'll fold my laundry, but i HATE doing everything else.

so what exactly does your cleaning lady do?

My cleaning lady is $50. She comes whenever we need her to. Luckily this is a side job so we don't have to worry about staying on her schedule.

She does basic cleaning - vacuuming, sweeping & mopping, cleaning the counters, bathroom, etc.

I have a list of big things - wash baseboards, windows, ceiling fans, etc. (the big crappy jobs). She does one big thing on the list in addition to her basic stuff. When we could afford once a week it was fantastic!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
