Would you share the name of the restaurant? My family would love to try it out some time.

We eat mostly organic-- especially meats and fruits/veggies. (well, FI does because I do the shopping). If it is some what hard to eat organic in your town, a good rule of thumb with fruits is that if it has a peel that you don't eat (such as bananas, oranges) it is not as bad to eat non-organic but with things like peaches, strawberries, grapes, etc, it is really important to eat organic-- ESPECIALLY STRAWBERRIES!!! And always try to eat organic meat and organic, cage free eggs.

I work in integrative medicine (combining eastern and western medicine) so I've had a lot of exposure to 'natural health' and while Andrew Weil is a bit of a sell-out, he wrote a decent book that is easy to read on healthy lifestyles that includes info on eating organic. It is called Natural Health, Natural Medicine.

I don't know if you have a Trader Joe's in your area but they are super cheap and have mostly organic food and healthier food in general-- they are great. Places like Whole Foods and New Seasons are pretty expensive but if people keep demanding it, it will get more competitive.

If you want to get scared in to becoming vegetarian, read The China Study or Skinny B*tch. I haven't classified myself as one but I pretty much can't eat meat anymore. I don't miss it though.

I'm really sorry about your lymphoma. worried2.gif

We also eat organic. We shop at a market and for some reason Colorado has alot more organic to buy then I ever found in TX or MO. I hate pesticides on my veggies or fruit! Grosses me out thinking about it. Which is another reason I hate baby wipes. They use the same stuff they put in pesticides! Ok OT! We also try to eat organic meat. We are about to buy a cow! Haha. Not a LIVE cow. My DH's parents use to buy a cow from a cow farmer and he'd package it and they'd have meat FOREVER. He also raises them on organic food so it's not pumped full of steroids and all that!

We also have a garden with yummy tomatoes, squash, peppers, etc. If we can stop the deer from eating most of it! We also have a Farmer's Market every saturday so you can get great veggies and fruit. And alot of chicken farmers and cow farmers where you can get eggs and REAL milk! I try to stay away from Trader Joe like places. They ship all their produce from other countries and wrap it in tons of plastic which IMO goes hand in hand with eating organic and then having your food wrapped in plastic. UGH!

We eat mostly organic, shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Wegmans.

We are really particular about our animal proteins - shellfish, chicken, turkey, meat, etc AND our fruit and veggies, we ONLY buy those from Whole Foods or organic.

We are lucky b/c there are a lot of local farmers markets and we live in a big city.

Organic / Locals foods is very important and i completely agree regarding the benefit you will see from removing all of those obvious toxins from your system!

At the moment, I don't eat much besides crackers and toast, but that's besides the point. I have been thinking about this organic trend a lot lately because I'm pregnant. It may be too late for me to fall in love with health food but I would like my baby to be healty, of course. My 11 year old daughter eats much better than me so I may be able to turn her. We live near 2 local farmer's markets and have lots of stores nearby that I'm sure I could find stuff.

Anybody watch Jon and Kate Plus 8? Even though she has to juggle 8 children, she cooks all of their meals and uses all organic ingredients. They visited an organic farm and bought a side of organic beef. It was pretty interesting.
A big part of the reason I started eating healthy/organic was b/c of TTC. It has a big part in that. When you eat healthy you are more healthy and supposedly makes it easier to get prego! I also want my children to be eating healthy. I'm so against eating fast food and chicken nuggets and hot dogs for kids. UGH. Even kids I watch I don't let them eat that. You can do it. Even slowly at first. Definately check out the farmers market. And if you don't like veggies and fruits maybe it's the way you ate them. Try cooking them different ways. For example I hated squash growing up. But grilling them is DELICIOUS!

i would love to eat organic. i just met with a nutritionist yesterday who advised me to eat organic everything. the problem with that is that when i go to WF 2 bags of groceries costs $100 and barely lasts a week. For just Dean and I that is just waaay too much IMO. i am going to try my best...
