Oh Jen, that sucks! I didn't read through everyone's replies, but I can't believe your DH's dad would fire him without talking to him about it first. That's crazy. It could be a blessing in disguise tho if he doesn't really love the industry he's in... he could make a career change and be really happy!

Just caught up on this thread. I can't believe the nerve of your FIL. It is bad enough to fire your own son because some little punk probably told him too! It is another thing to invite yourself over while dicussing the severance package. Does he really not have any clue? If he really wants to come for a vist, save that convo for another time!!!

I'm in shock that his father would treat him this way. No employee should be treated that way! I would do anything you can to get a signed contract for that severance package. If you have it writing, and signed by all parties, you can sue if FIL doesn't live up to his end of the deal.

I'm just shocked that a parent would treat their child that way. It really shows what his priorities are, and says a lot about his character- YUCK!

Wow, I can not believe his father. I think its also a blessing in disguise. Unfortunately its not on your husbands terms, but sounds like overrall its better for him to be out of that envirnoment. . And in the end it will just be another thing to make you two a stronger couple.

My FI has just a high school education. He couldnt afford college so he taught himself. Watch tutorials after tutorials on web design. Got into a company that saw him for his abilities and drive, as a junior web designer, and worked his way up through the company. He is now Senior Project Manager, hiring guys with masters underneath him, flying to Japan to meet with their largest customers, and being the owners right hand man. As much as education over experience seems to be in our face, their are quite a few places that take many years of experience to.

Hang in there!

My FIL is crazy... this is not the first insane thing that he's done, but probably the worst. He didn't book for our wedding until after we were in Jamaica, and showed up drunk 2 hours before we were married.

Nothing he does really surprises me anymore, but its incredibly hard to watch my husband be put through the ringer by his family. I have a very small family - essentially me and my mom, and we are very close. He has a large family, is 1 of 8 children, and they all treat each other like crap. I honestly wish he would just disown them all, but he keeps going back for more only to get kicked down again. He tries to keep the peace in the family and is really the strongest, and least F###ed up of them, but its hard on him.

Seriously... wtf.gif is wrong with people?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
