December 2008 brides

Hi Ladies! So I had a really fun and productive weekend. I had my makeup trial at MAC and I looked gorgeous! I should have taken pics but you will all see the look in my wedding picks. If anyone lives in NY or NJ Philip at the MAC store in Short Hills is unbelievable. I haven't felt that pretty in a long time. I also completed my letter for the welcome bags, wrapped gifts for attendants, surveyed FH and I's clothees for week of trip, and picked up some travel items. The best part of my weekend is that I recieved a phone call yesterday that my friend and her boyfriend booked for my wedding. I am soo excited, this is the girl whom I was best friends with and had a falling out but have since rekindled the friendship. Her presence is very important to me, I'm soo excited! That leaves us with 47 total attending!

My diet is going great and the weight is really coming off. 2nd fitting on a Wednesday night! 25 days to go!

Simistar - I love that punch! I worked on our programs last night and I had bought the same punch a while back and tried it out finally. It's so detailed! I don't know how I'm going to incorporate it yet, but maybe on the drinks menu.
I'll take a pic tonight of the programs and some of my stuff, I promise!

I'm just afraid of going to a random one (tho I got my dress from city 2 hours away so would like to not have to drive back there for alterations) & if they aren't familiar with the designer of my dress, you think there could be issues with my alterations?
I just bought my dress in October, so I went to the seamstress about 2 weeks ago. I think you shoudl go ASAP. The usually want about a month lead time. I'm sure they can do it in the time you've got, but better safe than sorry! The store I bought my dress from had a few seamstresses they recommend. They gave me one woman's card because she had great reviews and lived near to me. She works from her basement, but has been doing dresses for 15 years. I don't think it necessarily matters if they know your designer, but more experience. In my situation, she has experience altering really large dresses and doing mega bustles... I'm ending up with 6 or 7....! What does your dress look likehuh.gif

Maybe you were just bloated? How crazy is that. I had the same experience and was totally freaked out. But now I know it was just bloating. I hope it's good when I go for my 2nd fitting on the 15th..

Talk about an awesome weekend, NJ bride! You are so on the ball, it's kind of worrying me! Glad to hear such a positive review of MAC. A coworker told me to go there today and said she used them for her wedding and they don't always make people up to look as freaky as the store workers look. :)
Great news too about all the stuff you accomplished and your bf coming! cheer2.gif AND your weight! You're doing great! cheer2.gif

Hey -- question for you -- and Kevsgirl -- since you both mentioned going to MAC...
Do they show you HOW to put the make-up on...?
(Otherwise, I'm not sure why I'd go beforehand...BUT, if they show you HOW to apply the make-up, then I'll go for sure!)
I'm a little worried about my resort's salon/spa since it's new and hasn't been reviewed...so if they can't do make-up well, I'll have to do it myself...and I'm not that good at itsmile116.gif

The shop I bought my dress from has a seamstress that comes to the store...I was worried after reading horror stories from girls going to bad seamstresses, or seamstresses that had just not worked on wedding dresses before...
But I googled the seamstress and found really good reviews on her...
I suggest you do that too!
There's probably a local forum for your area (maybe on Wedding Bee? ) where you can get some recommendations and reviews...
But don't just take it anywhere because you're feeling rushed...At least take an hour to do some research...and make sure the seamstress has experience working on WEDDING dresses!
Driving two hours seems a bit much since you'll probably have to go back for a second fitting as well...BUT, if it's going to save you worrying, maybe it's worth it:-)

Cool! Post a pic(s)! I think that would look great on the drinks menu!

I had a GREAT weekend. My bachelorette party was AWESOME and my bday yesterday was just as GREAT. I will try and post pictures (if they are appropriate...lol).

We haven't resolved anything in terms of Secrets Capri double booking our wedding. This week I am contacting the WC's manager because the WC still hasn't been very up front with us as well as now she's saying I can't have my wedding rehearsal when we were originally supposed to have it because she has a wedding during that same time. So how is she going to be able to handle two weddings at the same time if she can't handle a rehearsal & wedding at the same time?

Kevsgirl: LMAO about not making you look like the people in the store! My FH calls them the clownie people. But no, I did not look anything like that, very light, natural, I couldn't even feel I was wearing make up and I never ever wore foundation in my life!

Simistar: He gave me a hand mirror to use while he did the makeup, so i could see how he did it. He explained why he was using every product and how to apply it. I'm good with make up and very familiar with their products and still learned some tricks. At the end he made me an eye chart which is a pic of the eye and where he put each color and the color name so I can follow it at home. In my experiences with MAC just tell them you don't know how to use a product and they will show you even if you just stop by the counter in a department store.

arhoyaltres: Happy Bday and bachlorette!

Geeeeez....what a PITA!pokestick.gif
I too am suddenly having problems with our WC...now, three weeks before the wedding, I just got an e-mail from her this morning saying we can't have our reception on the beach! huh.gif WTF?
We have been planning this since our FIRST e-mail to the resort and it was always, "yes, of course, no problem"...NOW, suddenly, it's a problem??
I am seriously starting to understand why girls end up going bridezilla...

Cool! Good to know...I will have to schedule a MAC trip before I go...
I've heard they charge you to do this, but will credit that money towards whatever products you purchase...?

My FI and I just finished doing a month-long cleanse diet...UUgh! But it worked! He took off like 12 -15 pounds...of course, I only ended up taking off about 5 to 7 pounds...but I'm still half doing it until we leave, so hopefully a few more will come off:-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
