December 2008 brides

Hey ladies!!

KevsGrl - that is sooo fun! I would try to stay relatively close to the weight you are when you get your last fitting. After all the planning for this you dont want the dress to look funny - too big or too small. it wouldn't look good. I know- easier said thendone. I had my fitting and need to stay around my current weight as well for this final month.

We are still in limbo with DT... my TA's boss is going to Cancun and stopping in Tulum for me to get some answers this week so I'm hoping to have some info. Fingers crossed.

My FI and I picked up our rings yesterday!! YAY! We also got sand rocks to put in our vases, suitcases to carry all of this crap down there, and picture frames for our guest book table and tequila tasting and cigar table.

Today, I'm hoping to work on my travel booklet. I'm making it for DT but not printing it yet. Hopefully it wont all be done for nothing! We're also thinking about doing a guest page with a picture of all the guests attending. Planning on doing that today too. Oh and my MOH is coming over and we're going to go through all of my dresses and decide which one i'm wearing for rehearsal dinner, etc. Should be fun!

BUSY BUSY. I'm starting to feel the crunch. How are you ladies feeling?

I am actually a little bit nervous about the whole getting-the-dress-altered-thing...weird, right? I'm just worried something horrible will happen...I've read some horror stories, and I really wish I hadn't, b/c otherwise I don't think I would give it another thought:-)
I'm actually also worried about how much the alterations will cost! But $300 sounds about average...if I have to pay $300, I'm okay with that...it's if I have to pay $500 or more that I won't be happy:-)
Kevsgirl -- did you just go through the bridal salon...?
I was really nervous too (had also read horror stories). The woman was referred to me by the bridal salon. She does alterations from her home. They gave her major praise, so I was expecting great things! Even so, I was asking her all these questions. The great thing was that every time I was panicky, she was amazing. She answered all my questions so quickly that I realized very early on that she is a professional who really knows what she's doing. smile29.gif The bustles are a little nuts, so I think I'll bring both my BM and a friend with me to the second fitting, so they can learn how to do them! It's complicated! So I would just say ask whatever questions you need to to make yourself feel better and hopefully the seamstress will be able to put you at ease. She even cut the front off while I was there! (Just the tulle layer). She was so cute. She was like "do you trust me?" I swear you could have heard a pin drop in the room. Neither of us was breathing! LOL!
If she had said more than $300 I think I would have died. As is, I'm ok with it. I think it's reasonable. She already spent 1 hour with me. If it takes her 5-6 hours, I'm paying her about $40/hr which is totally reasonable.

YAY for your FI getting his stuff together!!! smile159.gif
I was in the same boat with the pics of my dress. I ended up setting up our new tripod and taking the pics myself. He didn't wan tto see the 1st dress 'in case'...

I know! Eeek! I"m just worried because I started running about 3 weeks ago and I could see it all starting to pay off suddenly... I'm not going to stop exercising. But we'll see. Crossed fingers!

Sounds like you guys are really ramping it up! smile159.gif Your tequila tasting and cigar tables sound so fun! Are you going to engrave your rings, Amy?

I have just been finalizing our pre-wedding brochure and am hoping to do a 'meet the guests' page too (is that what you're talking about)? Morgan had a great one, so I'm using that as an example.

GOOD LUCK WITH DT!!!!smile03.gif

Yes, that's what I'm talkinga bout. My FI is in charge of the guest book page so I'm not exactly sure that one will happen:)

We're not engraving our rings. I think its really sweet and I wanted to but its a friend of my fiance (the jeweler) and he's been talking to her about it all. I wanted to surprise him and I just never figured it all out. Oh well!!!

No, def dont stop running. That'll make you look and feel GREAT for the big day. Just dont lose TOO much!

Ha! i don't think I'm in any danger of that! smile105.gif

As to what the grooms are in charge of...
yesterday I decided to delegate... so now FI is in charge of researching and purchasing a videocamera and speakers for the iPod. Also, he's in charge of compiling the playlist.

So today he said he wasn't worried about the playlist and shrugged. Are you serious? fryingpan.gif It seems like the thing that would take the longest. Arrrrrgh!

In other news, I just ordered a veil online tonight.
I don't know why i've been taking so lon gto do that.
I decided on a 30" length. I hope I don't find it too short. I am pretty short myself so I didn't want to look shorter in it!
It's going to be very plain (plain cut, not very full, no details) so it matches my dress and doesn't overwhelm the dress (because it has so much detail).
I hope i love it. Wish me luck!
It's from veilubridal.

Okay ladies...I did it!

I finally booked my appointment for alterations! EEEEK fryingpan.gif

I'm going on Sunday...wish me luck:-)

Amy...hope everything's going well for you...haven't checked the DT closure thread in a few days, but last I read there was some HOPE that the early December brides would be okay to stay at DT...but I also know that could change in a heartbeat...

Everyone else...home stretch!!! And yet, my to-do list, instead of getting smaller, seems to just get bigger, even though I'm ticking things off everyday...it's like it has a life of its own:-)

Things are starting to look positive with DT. All signs point to a big reopening announcent soon!! So i'm back to my to do list as if its going to be open after a month of just total melt down freak out! HA- in my original plan I would have been done with a lot of my to dos by now but everything was put on hold so now i'm down to the wire!!!

I'm with you, Semistar, my to do list is getting bigger despite the fact that i'm scratching things off!! how does that work?

Tomorrow is exactly 1 month to the big day!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
