December 2008 brides

OMG 50 days left for me! I can't believe it. I got a few more things done. Schedule a makeup trial at MAC, ordered gifts for our godparents, had my first fitting, and paid for the rooms and more of the photographer. How is everyone else doing? I'm still waiting on like 50 RSVPS but they have till 11/1.

Did you love it? Or did it look awful?:-) TOTALLY kidding...

It's just when I was decing on whether to buy dress #2, when I went to try it on again, I kept hoping it would awful so it wouldn't be a hard decision:-)

YES!!! I went last night to the first salon where I bought my first (hang head in shame) gown. I spoke with the owner. Honestly, they didn't treat me well there, which is funny because I almost bought 2 gowns from them. Whatever.

I didn't find anything I liked.

She said that she would take my gown back and sell it on consignment. They'd decide on a price and discuss with me. This after she said it would be very great for them to have it in the store as it's a popular style and a good size. So I'd be helping them? So I hope i have some more leverage than a crappy price. We'll see how that goes.

My sister drove me and my FMIL came too and met us there. Then she suggested we go to another store in the spur of the moment, so we drove otu there with about an hour and half left to closing. Tried on half the store and finally put on this gorgeous dress... it was one that I picked on a whim that FMIL looked at me and said "are you serious?" boy did she ever eat her words when she saw me in it!S&M.gif

So... it's on hold right now at the store. It is a size too big, but totally possible to alter to suit me. Woohoo! It is super sexy, slimming, hugging, beautiful bottom and very similar to the dress I posted above (at the other store). I drove myself nuts for a few hours thinking about going back tothe other store, but honestly this one was so much prettier, there's no comparison.

The straps are beautiful lace, the back is dramatic and sexy, the bust area is hot too! It will hug my curves, give me an hourglass figure, and it has the most fun bottom too!

I'm SUPER EXCITED!!! jiggy.gif

I was just waiting to hear if they called the warehouse to see if there was a 'ivory/gold' one in 12 or even diamond white, as this one is white. But I just took matters into my own hands and called. THey have no stock, so it's a white 14 at the store. I do not care. I'm so happy with it. It makes me feel like a princess.

WE put on a very sheer one layer white veil with it and it was sooooooooo pretty!

Here it is! I'll pick it up tonight or tomorrow and try to get pics too!pinkie.gif

So here it is!!! I just went and bought it. It's white, which isn't as great as ivory, but I still LOVE It TO DEATH!!! It's a size too big, so it's not as form fitted as it will be. Here I'm pinching in the sides...:

And just for the BDW girls.... smile120.gif lookatme.gif

I feel so sexy in this dress. And it's so romantic too. It's the perfect combination.I didn't get the veil, but am planning on purchasing something very similar:

THANK YOU!!! I'm so much happier and relieved and just overall giddy! jiggy.gif
You're totally right: it's how I should sound. Yippee for the 2nd dress!
I need to do a dance now!

Yes, dances. You asked what our dance was (or someone else did).
We're going to dance to Ingrid Michaelson's Take Me as I Am (I think that's what it's called). It's quirky and sweet. FI loves it and I do too (though I think I'd be more inclined to dance to one of the oldies that we were lso thinking of).
Other front-runners were/are:
Bublé: For Once in my Life
Beyond the Sea
Bublé: Fever
Michelle Featherstone: Man and Wife

What are all of you December brides dancing to?
And what on earth are you walking down the isle to? I have no idea for that!!!

I know, I KNOW! :-)
They actually called and left a message yesterday saying the dress is in...I think I'll go there (it's about a 2 1/2 hr drive) on Tuesday or Wednesday...and I'll ask whether they can do consignment or SOMETHING...you're right, the worst they can do is say no:-)

My FI and are actually going the untraditional route on our first dance...
We're dancing to that Saturday Night Fever song by the Bee Gees...for the life of me I can't think of the name of the song right now! We've been praticing...but we've got a LOT more practicing to do! Plus the dance floor we're getting lights up, so we think it'll br pretty funny:-)
There's no way we could pull off anything serious or sentimental...we're both too goofy for that:-)

As for walking down the aisle...haven't decided.
I did hear a BEAUTIFUL verison of Ave Maria on a website a litte while ago that I liked...even though we're not having a religious ceremony, I thought the song was beautiful. And we're having live musicians for the ceremony and cocktail hour, so I'm sure they could play it...I know it'll make my mom tear up:-)

And we have NO IDEA what we're walking out to!
Guess we should get on that!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
