I've currently been dealing w/ a mysterious infection (in addition to a severe sprained ankle) only to find out that I'm allergic to the antibiotic that I was given...so now I'm battling a severe chemical reaction to penicillin; which I had no clue I was allergic to. So I have been in & out of the doctor's office trying to pinpoint the problem. Initially, the ER doc said that it was just a food allergy, but the rash, itching, & was much more aggressive than anything I have ever experienced before. Keep in mind that the only thing I'm allergic to is pineapple, and I've been relatively healthy up until these recent months.

With all of this other stuff going on, I have given my DIY invites to my wedding planner for her to finish up and mail by tomorrow. She's had them for over a week so I'm not sure why they haven't been sent out already. I had printed everything out, scored ticket sleeves, and printed the labels so basically all she had to do was assemble them and place in the mail. I'm anxious to see what the RSVP count is going to be. I still have to design our custom mugs, print menus, programs, favor tags, order favors, get fiance's suit tailored, among another million things. And I will be leaving town tomorrow after doing my BD session to spend Labor Day weekend with his family on the East coast....101 days to go & I'm really starting to feel the pressure.

Sorry for the thread hijack but OMG! I'm allergic to pineapple and Penicillin too!

Thanks for the nice thoughts. :)

Things are looking up a bit. My manager really appreciates my work and said today that it's looking very good about my job changing somewhat (I'm hoping oging up a level) and becoming permanent sooner rather than later. So that's great.

My friend's having an open house for her father on Saturday so FI and I will come back early from the cottage trip we'd planned to be there for her.

I think she's doing a bit better this week. It's got to be so sad though sad.gif

OMG! That's horrible! I'm glad it didn't get any more severe before you caught it. Allergic reactions can be so scary. I once woke uip with a swollen lip like I'd been punched. The doctor said the throat would have swollen up next. Scary! Glad to hear you're getting it looked at.

That sounds so much fun.

So are you feeling better? Are you still all itchy?

Hope the BD session goes well. It's so exciting. Have a great vacation too. Worry about all the wedding stuff when you get back!

Hooray for Dec '08 brides!!!

I am getting married Dec. 7th, 2008 at Dreams Tulum.

We're date twins!

I JUST found this thread...and glad I did! I was beginning to think I was the ONLY one getting married in December!

I think I've pretty much got all the major things sorted out (photog booked, DJ, invites sent out, dress ordered...)...

Just smaller details need to be sorted out and I've been procrastinating on e-mailing my resort's WC about those...:-)

But then again, we're not having a wedding party, so lots less to do:-)

And we're not doing OOT bags...we're just doing favours at the reception and pashminas for the girls at our welcome dinner and golf visers for the guys (they're all going golfing the day before our wedding...)

Just anxiously awaiting the RSVPs to come in!:-)

Welcome to our quiet little thread!!! smile159.gif

I hear you on waiting for the RSVPs... I find it quite nerve-wracking. smile78.gifI was over at the Future In-laws' place last week and FI's brother is getting married in October and FSIL said that they'd received 28 RSVPS back already. Their invites went out less than 2 weeks ago, so it was very ltitle time. Anyway, I was like "really? That's awesome!" and she said, "what about you?" Well, that was embarassing, because so far only both of our parents have replied sad.gif I felt like crap sad.gif

But ours is a DW and theirs is a huge one in town, so I know that we may have only 8-12 people at ours and we only sent out about 19 invitations total. Whereas they sent out about 200.

Even so, made me feel pathetic sad.gif

Hi - first off Helen...i'm so sorry.....how frustrating that must be for you. At least they know what is going on and can treat it.

Niels and Kevsgirl, I am in the same predicament as most others here. We sent out invites out in early August with an rsvp due date of 9/1..so far we've gotten about 28 of the 75 rsvp's back. Now, i will say that I know that the Canadian one's (at least Eastern Ontario ) are going to be super-late because....are you ready for this - it took 13 DAYS to get them delivered to Ottawa. Canadian Postal service is so ridiculous sometimes. But, with that being said, even our groomsmen and bridesmaids haven't sent there's in on time. Do you think because it's a DW people say "oh, they already know we are coming, we used their travel agent, and told them when we booked"?

I got my shoes this week - flip flops (white, except I was looking for Ivory) and wedding shoes from Zappo's. If you go to zappo's and search by "theme" Wedding....they will all come up. Love Zappo;s - free shipping to me and free returns..so I bougt 3 pair and chose the most comfortable of the 3 (usually I choose the best looking, so going comfortable was tough), but I really don't want to have sore feet on my wedding night.

Also, we chose our first song (Save the Last Dance for Me by Michael Buble) and started dance lessons this week - fun and a good work out.

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend.

WOW!!! Gotta love the postal service between Canada and the U.S. Things from the U.S get to us usually at an astoundingly quick rate. I'd say I usually get stuff from the States in 2-3 days, whereas if something's coming to me from within Canada it can take a week. So that's unfortunate!

I'll have to check Zappos. I wish sometimes that we were down in the States, because it seems like all the good online stores are down there and shipping and duties are always totally expensive to get stuff up here sad.gif

I'm waffling on the shoes I want to get. Not sure at all.
Great job on your purchases though! :)

I was productive last night: I put together our ceremony script. It's nearly ready. I kind of worked with Morgan and Rachel's and have made it a bit more tailored to us (not many changes). Just a few more tweaks and it's done!

Thanks for the welcome!

I know for us the people we KNOW are coming have already RSVP'd...but there's a whole whack of "we-have-no-idea"-type people:-) So, I keep checking our wedding website (where people are RSVPing through) to see if any of these people have responded...and they haven't:-(

It's frustrating -- b/c I want to start booking our golf day, ordering the favours etc so I can check those off the ol' to-do list...but can't:-)

As for the in-laws' wedding...YOURS is a DW -- it will be WAAAAAY more fun!:-)

Here's a question for you ladies!

(I'm thinking of posting this in the "etiquette" section as well, but thought I'd start with you gals...)

So, I'm not sure what the etiquette is for whether to give vendors dinner or not...especially when some are only staying for one-to-three hours...

So, for example, we've hired our photographer for three hours...He'll be leaving by the time dinner starts...Do we invite him to stay...?

What about the guitarist who's playing just for our ceremony? (so 45 min. set)...? Maybe just tip him...?

Our DJ is staying for four hours, beginning at dinner...do we serve him dinner while he's working...?

So confused -- please help!:-)

Etiquette is that vendors are supposed to be fed/offered a meal, but they usually take their meals somewhere else when they're on a break. They're meant to have at least one break too, even if they're playing during the reception.

It's a bit more difficult for those who are just playing for an hour during the ceremony.

Here's what we're doing:
3:30 ceremony - 4pm cocktail hour - 7pm dinner

Photographer: 2:45-6.15 - I invited her to stay for dinner, even though she'll be done almost an hour before. She said yes, she'd love to! So i'm glad for that.
Mariachis: playing during cocktail hour for 1 hour from 4-5pm - I expect them to help themselves to the hors d'oeuvres and have a drink on us. Want them to be happy and hydrated!

That's it. No more vendors.
Oh - I completely forgot our minister. I will ask him in advance if he wants to have dinner with us. If not, I"ll ask him to come up for some hors d'oeuvres.

Andrea :)

Everything is going fine now....the medicine worked so I'm no longer itchy & feverish. My BD shoot went well. I can't wait to see the proofs!!! So now that I'm back from my little vaca, I'm really focused on finishing up the last minute details for the wedding....95 days left!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
