Hooray for Dec '08 brides!!!

I am getting married Dec. 7th, 2008 at Dreams Tulum. I am so thankful you started this thread so that we can all keep eachother on track & share ideas! Our ceremony, as of now, is set for 4pm. I feel like I should be doing alot right now, but then the resort tells me to wait until @ 3months before to start planning the resort details (cake, flowers, etc.). What else should I be doing? I've gotten STD's out...

Have you all already ordered or purchased your dresses? I'm going this weekend, just haven't found one yet that's "woo-ed" me.

Lastly, are any of you feeling the stress of this "airline fuel costs" & companies going under or bankrupt? I have people afraid to book bc they aren't sure what will be when Dec. rolls @.

Thanks, looking forward to chatting with you ladies, LOTS!!!

Niels408 - you are having the same stress as me - I want all the details worked out, and the hotel (who only responds to emails once/week) is like no worries, you can figue all that later...YIKES!

I bought my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses about 2 weeks ago, and we got our groomsmen dresses last week. We did STD almost immediately (we got engaged June 1) and are planning on sending out Boarding Pass invites out in early August, with an rsvp for September 1. Then I can have an accurate count to start doing the OOT bags, favors etc. There is certainly still lots to do, but I feel like getting the attire was a big CHECK on the long list :) You will feel better once you get that done. Also, some of the stores are saying 2-3 months to get the dress and another month for alternations....so i was concerned about cutting too close. I'm a project manager (my job), so i'm all about eliminating any potential risks - ha ha.

Hi ladies - Thank goodness I'm not the only one! I sent out my STD's back in April, but I'm stressing on what I should be doing next.

Here's what I've done:

Sent STD's

Booked Photographer

Booked ceremony/reception site

set up website

I'm a bit self conscious of my upper body (arms, back) so I know I will have a hard time finding a dress that will flatter me since most dresses are sleeveless. I was lucky enough to befriend this girl that I used to work with from Equador. She had created a gown for our christmas party and it looked like a gown you wear to the OSCARS! She said she did it in 3 days!! So she will be making my dress and hopefully we will start next week. I'm going Bm dress shopping this weekend. Lots of sales out there for the 4th. Anybody using an outside coordinator?

Hi Ladies!

So happy to have found this thread. I too am a December bride - 12/08/08 to be exact. I see a lot of us have the same stresses - mainly the hotel. I get uneasy when I write to my WC and she doesn't respond right away or she tells me we have time - but I just keep telling myself not to worry, they know what they're doing and they do this all the time.

So, so far I've sent out my STD's (I went with passports for my STDs) and I've already ordered my dress and my bridesmaid dresses. I also booked my photographer but I'm debating on whether or not to use the resort videographer or hire an outside one.

I'm hoping to go with my FI this weekend to go shopping for his and his groomsmen attire and I also hope to start my invites this weekend. I'm going to wait on purchasing my OOT bags and all the goodies that will go in the bags until I got a good estimate on the number of people attending - I don't want to end up under- or over-buying stuff. Other than that I'm not sure what else I should be doing.

Please let me know if I'm missing anything girls! jiggy.gif

Yes, I am really worried about this too because we don't have alot of people booked yet and the airfare prices are getting very high. I am getting married in St. Thomas. When we decided to have our wedding there like 9 months ago the prices were reasonable and now they are outrageous! I am worried alot of friends won't be able to come now because it is getting so expensive.

Also, we are really trying to encourage everyone to book through our travel agent because my parents and fiance's parents all had their flights cancelled already! Luckily the travel agent was there to deal with everything and work it all out.

It just makes me nervous. As if we don't have enough to be nervous about already!

Great Info ladies! The sunset info was huge becasue I think I goofed. I originally had a wedding time for 3:00 PM and asked to change it to 5:00 PM.

Big mistake for pictures. Oops, I'm going to email the WC right now and see if I can get it switched back to 3!

Hi Girls!

I am getting married in Cuba on December 17th, 2008 at 4pm. I still need to find a beachy wedding dress that is low key because my fiance wants to have short sleeve shirt on (its his wedding too you know). That has been quite to the task to find.

anyways I am enjoying the journey!

Looking forward to chatting with all of you.

Rebecca

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
