? for those who changed their e ring

Recommended Posts

Joe and I are contemplating changing out my e ring. Long story short, I love my E ring, but cannot find a wedding band that I am happy with or want to wear. I bought one that I liked... more than others anyway. But it's really rough and scratches my fingers. And, really it looks ok with my e ring, but not great.

So, we were talking about switching out my e ring completely and starting over. We went to the jewelry store tonight, looked for more wedding bands for my current e ring, to no avail. But found a new set that I totally love.

But what do we do with my current e ring? We'd want to sell it, but where?

Here's the ring I have:

and here's the wedding band i bought:

So, for you gals that have changed wedding bands, where do you sell your origional e ring?

before you make the decision to sell, just know that you won't get back a large percentage of what you paid. I don't know about everyone, but when I've known someone who sold theirs they got about 1/2 of what they paid.

Would you consider no band? I don't have a band. I love my ring on it's own. Your ring has the same simplicity that I love about mine. I think that is why a band is taking away from it, not adding to it. My ring is also 4 prong & round.

3 of my married friends were visiting me recently & they all said they prefered their ring without the band.

I agree with Morgan I am not sure how much you will get for it. Is the place you are getting the new set the same place your FI bought your e-ring they may be willing to do something for you. Show us the set you love.

yeah, your best bet would be a trade in at the same jewelry store. I've never known someone to get a good price reselling. Anyone buying a used ring wants it for a steal. Consignment takes forever & selling just the stone gets you a lot less than you paid too.

i really love your ring. What about a really, really thin metal band?

My recommendation is to keep the diamond, but get a different setting.

That's what we did....I loooooved my old ring, but the band was to close to what I had the first time I got married. I LOVE the vintage look, so we went to our jeweler, found a ring that we both loved and just switched the settings.

Is this an option for you?

Yes, this is actually what we were thinking of doing. The problem.. because there has to be three. Is that 1. we bought my ring in MN, at a jewelry store that is ONLY in Minnesota. So trading in there, really isn't an option.

2. I bought the wedding band at Jared's, and they will let me return it, and put that price towards a new set. But not return it for a full refund (over the 30 day return policy)

3. Jared's will also take trade ins... which is great BUT my ring is platinum, and name brand. New ring, is white gold, not name brand. FI paid more for my current e ring band, than the new set costs for both rings. That said, obviously Jared's isn't going to give me more than the set we're wanting to purchase on my trade in.

I'm at a loss. I don't know if people sell them on Ebay or Craigslist. I basically need 1000 to not have to shell out more money to change bands.

I wish I would have tested out the wedding band I purchased a long time ago so I could have gotten a full refund on it. Ahh well.

I have been searching for a picture of the new ring I love, but I can't find one! I'll keep looking.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
