its really nothing, just two pages with your information and the amount of guests you want and whats included in your package. It also asks you to choose your music, basically thats all. And when your deposit is due

Im a little worried myself.....i know from previous posts the brides said once its closer to your date they are more responsive but it is stressful not knowing what to expect. ESPECIALLY when trying to stick to a budget, im worried i will get slammed w taxes and additional fees i wasnt aware of.

Im sure it will all work out in the end--hang in there!

OK everyone, get this. I was just on tripadvisor.com reading different reviews of Dreams Cancun. The most recent review in which a wedding was performed (June 200cool.gif stated that the manager informed the bride and groom that the WC was TERMINATED!!!! They didnt list specifics and no names were mentioned in the review. Maybe this is the reason that no one had been receiving emails back from the Dreams WC's. Below I have included the review posted on tripadvisor.com. If anyone can shed some light on this, I would really appreciate it!!

Let me start by saying I have been to Rivera Mya & Cancun 4 times in the last year. I have stayed some of the better all inclusive resorts and some of the cheaper ones as well. I am not a complainer as I know the conditions in Mexico are some what less then the USA but you go for the beaches. We have always enjoyed our time until we stayed at the Dreams Cancun.

We personally like River Mya better then Cancun but we where getting married and we wanted people to be able to walk or take the bus locally for a good mix. so We decided on Cancun. We toured about 60 resorts in Cancun to choose nice wedding site. The Dreams Cancun has great site where se-rounds the wedding area. We meet with the wedding coordinator over a year prior to the wedding in person at the resort. We did not stay their but we had been given a tour. The Dreams is much more expensive as a resort then most but we liked the site and said how bad can it be. BIG MISTAKE! We spoke BY email every few weeks picking out the wedding package (ULTIMATE PACKAGE) and specifics over about 8 months. When it came time to send her the deposit she would not return emails. I called the hotel left messages with her voice mail as well as the Dreams management. Finally it was 5 weeks prior to the wedding and I demanded the front desk connect me with her or I will keeping calling. She took my call sent me the contract and I paid the deposit. We asked several questions after and she did not respond to emails again.

WEDDING

We arrived in resort 6/21/08 and are guest would start arriving on 6/22 21 people. We checked in and asked to speak with the wedding coordinator. They proceed to tell us she had been terminated. So we asked to speak to her replacement and they informed us she would not bee in until 1 1/2 days latter. Keep in mind their is a large amount of legal requirements that need attention for legal wedding. We asked about the free room upgrade to the Honeymoon sweet which is part of the wedding package we selected. They informed us it would be available for us the next day. The next day the Desk manager lies directly to our face and said it is not available. After the previous night the desk clerk showed us on the computer screen 2 suites would be available.

On Monday 6/23/08 the coordinator contacted us and we meet with her. She could not locate our paper work for another day so we had to wait. Once she located the paper work she started to charge us more then the contract for items we had already purchased. We had no choice but except as the wedding day was approaching. The coordinator and the hotel workers vary inexperienced.

The day of the wedding 6/26/08 we had no direction or coordination we took all the initiative and responsibility on so we could actual have a wedding. We have the wedding and the site is Beautiful but we paid extra for extra decorations in the amount of $400 USD. As we approached only 1/3 of what we paid for was done. I asked the coordinator and all she would keep saying is "Pretty though Isn't it". I told her but we paid for 2/3 that was not done and she would not acknowledge this. Finally I told her I was extremely upset and she admitted they had forgotten to complete the decoration. She also informed me they would not refund me the money.

On 6/27/08 We go deep sea fishing to return to the coordinator extorting more money. She tells us they "forgot to charge us for somethings" with no specifics of $860 USD. I told I am not paying any more and her answer was then we would not get our marriage license. I had no choice but to pay.

THE HOTEL ITSELF

Terrible old built in the early 1970's and it looks it! Rust and mold on the resort and rooms. Broken equipment and literally the locks falling of our on the floor. Slimy stinky Logan beach. The poor Dolphins their tank water was like a swamp not sea water. Vary little to do ate nigh. The pool was vary small & vary crowded & dirty water. Drinks have vary little alcohol and if you ask for particular alcohol they charge absorbent amount of money. Buffet horrible vary little food and what was their was empty, old, & cold. Specialty restaurants where except-able. Stay away from the Oceana restaurant. We spoke with the manger upon arrival to the resort on who to have seating for 21 guests. he said go at 6pm when they open or after 9pm when it is slower. So went to the Oceana at 5:55pm and only 2 tables where occupied. They did not want to seat us they said they did not have room. We said the restaurant is nearly empty. The manger of the restaurant replied sorry that is our policy. He then proceeds to explain if we but 3 bottles of wine for $150.00 he could bend the rule. WE THOUGHT WE WHERE IN A ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT! We had no choice but to pay. Beaches are horrible and some one actually died on one of the hotel scuba trips!

All in all the was a horrible place with horrible accommodations. The resort was more like a Mexican drug lord extorting money. It was a good thing everyone had brought several thousand dollars each because we need it. I guess so much for this resort being a all inclusive.

WARNING STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
