Ugh...I had Dolce, and then it was Wilma...and then I was told it was Christina haha so I know how that feels.  I really just kept a record of all of our discussions and would repeat them when my WC changed just to make sure she had all of the right info.  I even printed out certain emails and took them with me just to make sure everything was as she said it would be, but it was fine.  The records that they exchange from one WC to another for me were perfect.

I just got an email from Mercedes also, but I thought my WC was Cristina?! Who knows!

Also, wanted to ask...so it says if you are doing the symbolic ceremony (NOT legal), that you need to show a marriage license...but we were planning to wait until after Mexico to do the legal part back home here, so we wouldn't have a marriage license and am wondering if this will be a problem?? Anyone have any experience with this?

My wedding coordinator  was Edith. Now, it's Mercedes. I don't know if she's good or not, I'm going to email her today.

Sachele and Taryn.. here's a question for you two... Who is your wedding coordinator? Mine is Cristina. I am totally happy with her so far.. Are you happy with yours?

Jess thanks for still hanging here with us... and helping...

I haven't been assigned a wedding coordinator yet - how far in advance before your wedding did you receive yours? My date is April 21st - should I reach out to them or just wait for them to initiate when it's closer to my date?

What I HAVE learned from all of you is to save ALL email correspondence from all of their WCs and bring it with me!

Hello Ladies! Thank you for your replies. I think Mercedes is a Senior Wedding Planner who oversees all the other coordinators from Palace Resorts to make sure they are on track. She seems to be very nice and knowledgable, too.

amberm360- I think you need to talk with your wedding coordinator about this so there is no misunderstanding. I think you would need a marriage license only for the honeymoon package inclusion not the symbolic ceremony. Go to palaceresorts website and wedding documents needed- all the info is there.

Jess- a question, I know you guys did the deep sea fishing trip.. I want to schedule that for the guys also, so we don't have them up our butts 24/7 lol Any details? Which company did you use? Also who did you use for the Explore park? I have been reading trip advisor reviews and I'm getting a lot of mixed up info

J-me- I booked my wedding maybe 6 months in advance, 5-months to it - I got a State- side coordinator based from Miami, then maybe 4 months to it, got another one from the actual resort. I would not stress you have a lot of time!!!

Also what's up with the set menus? Geee..How can I decide if everybody wants chicken or fish or beef? Did you guys have a set menu? if, so what did it look like.. are there ANY choices?

Have a Great Day everyone!

As far as the deep sea fishing trip, I used Tequila Sunrise Adventures (http://www.chartermexico.com) and I DO NOT recommend them.  We had quite a few issues with them, including serious lack of communication on their part in the weeks leading up to the trip.  I have heard great things about Captain Rick's (http://captricksfishing.com/) -- I was between them and Tequila Sunrise, and unfortunately went for saving a couple bucks instead.  Captain Rick's is really only a $25 difference, so that was a dumb decision on my part :oP.  One thing you want to make sure of when booking your fishing trip is to make sure the guys can bottom fish.  We had that type of fishing reserved with Tequila Sunrise and they ended up taking them troll fishing instead, which was not very enjoyable for the guys.  If you are unfamiliar with the difference, bottom fishing is where the boat stops and the guys fish...troll fishing is where the boat never stops and the guys will only get a fishing rod if there is a fish already hooked (which only happened twice in a matter of 4 hours for our 8 guys..which is why my husband was so disappointed).  You are much more likely to catch fish and have a more interactive trip with bottom fishing.

As far as XPlor, we just booked the trip through the reservations department at the hotel.  It was a bit more pricey, but we just wanted everything to be taken care so we could enjoy ourselves.  I think it was around $129 a person for roundtrip transportation and park admission (which includes all beverages and food).  It was pricey, especially since we paid the $70 for our pictures, but we did really enjoy the day and are glad we did it!

Hope that helps!!

Hey there Jess!!

I'm getting married at Playacar Palace in January with a smaller group like yours (prob about 20 ppl or so) and am also having an AHR.  I am not planning on purchasing a private event since we are having the AHR the week we get back.  I didn't see a review by you so I hope you don't mind if I ask a couple questions:

Did you just use the cocktail hour?  Or did you purchase a private event?  If just the cocktail hour and the semi-private dinner, were the guests (and you!) happy with that?

Since you brought your own flowers, did they allow you to substitute the flowers that would have come with your package for something else?

And I think you had talked before about using the resort dollars for videography?  If so, how did the video come out?

Thanks!  And congrats!

Hey perry!

I used the free cocktail party we got from having at least 5 guest rooms booked for our welcome party on Thursday evening.  I didn't purchase any private events.  After the wedding my guests either went back to their rooms to freshen up and/or went and got drinks and then met us at the restaurant for dinner when we were done with pictures.  Because we were late getting to dinner our guests just ordered appetizers while they waited for us and I think everyone was just fine with how it all went!  I was definitely happy with everything, and I'm glad I chose the cocktail party as a welcome party so that we could enjoy it with our guests.  It was really nice to have that private event to welcome our guests and spend some time socializing with them.

Because we brought all of our own flowers they let me substitute the free boutonierre and bouquet for a gorgeous alter display.  Here is a good picture of what we received -- I loved it :o)

We did use our resort dollars for the videographer, but I'm not sure if that is an option anymore?  Once I was home and watched it a few million times lol there were things that really bothered me about the video, but overall I'm happy with it.  I am really glad we have it to watch and share.  Here is the link to the actual video -- I uploaded it to youtube so that other brides could see it!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBG7wLv2YAU

Also, here is the link to my review in case you'd like to see it!: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/aventura-spa-palace-all-inclusive/reviews/4777

If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know :o)

I'll leave you with a pretty picture of a Playacar Palace wedding they were setting up while I was there!!!  :o)  I do have a few other pictures of Playacar Palace on my facebook if you want to see more..

Thank you so much for sharing Jess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Beautiful wedding!!  I finally got Palace to agree to let me use my resort credits for the videography since my wedding was booked prior to them changing the resort credit policy.  It was a pain in the butt to get them to do it, but they finally agreed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
