Yeah the Welcom bags are overwhelming plus the fact that I'm getting married here on May 5th and that is a whole mini wedding in itself thanks to my in laws!!  Its actually costing us about 4 times what the Mexico wedding is costing to have a church ceremony here!  I'm defeated with wedding planning!  My only saving grace is the welcome bags and putting fun and silly items in the bags, it's distracting me from all the messy business over here!!  I'm not picky with centerpieces or flowers so I'm hoping everything will fall into place quickly!

What are you putting in your welcome bags? Sorry if I missed a post if you have already put it up there! I was thinking about doing just like gift bag like bags, then putting, koozies, wine stopper, picture coasters & adding some goodies that we get locally once we get down there, then just putting tissue paper and attaching a thank you note with ribbon on them. I hope the guests like that, I still need to order everything, which is of course another expense!!! lol.

Wow, I cant believe that!! That is exactly why we are just going to Mexico, even though they do find ways to charge you for extra stuff in Mexico too, that is way over priced, but overall it is less expensive than getting married in the US. You have your hands fun!!! Well I bet you cant wait to get to Mexico lol, for sun, drinks & relaxation!

Yeah I was going to do basic centerpeices for dinner, or even use the bridesmaids boquets and just have them put vases on the tables so the girls can drop them in the vase, try to re-use or repurpose them and then see if the staff can then take them over to the dance party, because we are doing an outdoor dinner, then indoor reception(dance & cake). So that way they can be re-used or used all night. We will see how that works out!!

Here is the link to my welcome bags if you wanted to check them out.  All of my guests went straight to the pool bar when we got there and stayed there most of the day, so my maid of honor and I went up to the room, put them together, and brought them down to everyone at the pool!  It was definitely worth saving the money and being able to personally deliver them as my thank you.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm getting married on May 3rd and didn't hear from my on-site WC until this past Friday.  And that was after sending Yesenia an e-mail telling her that I was very disheartened by the lack of communication. I was told a few months ago that I would hear from a Miami WC in March and then the on-site in April. Unfortunately, I never heard from a Miami WC.  Yesenia has been great but she can't go to Mexico with us!

On a more fun note, here's what I did for my Welcome bags.  For $2.50 a bag, I'm having them delivered.

That's my bag put together! Since I took this pic, of course I had to buy more stuff. Here's

some more pics.

I bought the beach bags at the Dollar Store and made the cards to attached to them.  I also embossed them myself with Mexico.

I bought inexpensive pashmina shawls on e-bay for $5 each.  They're actually really nice for the money.

I made these little pockets to hold the photo share cards that I made.  I created a photo share site on Shutterfly.

I bought sewing kits at Family Dollar.

Mini bath sponges and bath gel in the shape of fish that I found at Pier One Imports

Puzzle books, and a pocket calendar.

Lanyards for their money and room keys

047.JPGLittle survival kits filled with antiseptic lotion, bandages, vitamin c drops, advil, shout wipes, bottle of tums, alcohol swabs, cotton swipes, Q-tips, chapstick and I'm sure there's other stuff in there that I can't remember!

051.JPGFlat water bottle and a cross word puzzle for our wedding.

I made bookmarks too!

I bought mini note pads and pens too.

I also, had these printed through Vista Print to put in the bags.  I'll fill them out when we get there.  It would have been nice to have it all printed out, but because I didn't hear from anyone, I was forced to do it this way.

I hope this helps with some ideas! I got most of my ideas from this site.  Thanks to all of the ladies on here for their help and support.

We had a ton of crazy I have to admit, but I can without question that they have two options they gave me, the vendor price which is a HUGE sum, and the day pass price.  For our Mayan ceremony there were so many people, I had the vendor price, with the photographers there were only two so I had the day pass price, day pass for the hair and makeup but there were so many days it would almost have been better to go with the vendor price.  If you have a confirmation in an email it constitutes as a contractual obligation on their part, if it is a real problem let me know I will get you the information for the head of customer service, given our situation I have him on speed dial at this point!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
