Thanks for posting the pic - your cake looks great so I'm sold on chantilly!! We are going with tres leches (our favorite!), chocolate & cheesecake - all had the best reviews!

We chose chantilly also...tastes SO much better! I would describe chantilly as being a little more 'whipped' icing. It was very good though. With our wedding package, we were able to chose a different flavor for each tier...we did tres leches, carrot, adn chocolate cake and they were ALL so delicious! We were so happy with our choices. Also, the WONDERFUL servers at Mundaca Steakhouse took the time to cut a small piece of each flavor for every person, so they didn't have to pick a flavor, they got to try all three, which was awesome!! It broke my heart to waste the rest of the cake, because we had so much leftover and couldn't bring it home with us. They gave us a to-go box to take some back to the room and we ate some 'late-night'!

I wouldn't worry about the cake looking perfect with the heat and all...as long as it looks decent and tastes yummycheesy.gif

I'm having trouble uploading a picture of our cake, but if I figure it out, I'll send it!

Thanks for the info! I was wandering if they would let you do different flavors with the layers! I really want red velvet, but Jeff would like something more like carrot or plain vanilla!  Can you remind me what the tres leches is?

Upon going down there, I thought we had to pick one flavor and I was having such a hard time deciding on one...so I was really excited when the WC said we could get a different flavor for each layer at no addtl charge. I seriously was sure to ask all the time if something would be an additional charge, because with the language barrier I didn't want anything to be misunderstood and I didn't want to spend more money than we already had!

I believe a three layer cake like that is only included if you purchase a wedding package...otherwise, they give you a smaller cake for the size of your party (unless you pay to upgrade it). It is unfortunate when you get the bigger one though because so much goes to waste.

Tres leches is three milk cake...its mostly like a vanilla cake but really moist/creamy and sooo good!! They really know how to make it in Mexico because it is their specialty. You should get tres leches, carrot, and red velvet...then everyone's happywink.gif Haha

They also allow you to pick the shape of the cake...heart, square, round...so that's something to think about also.

I forgot to mention that you can change the look of the cake that comes with your wedding package too. We had the Amber package and the cake that was supposed to come with ours was bright orange and I didn't want that. So I just asked if it could be white with some fresh flowers on it...they used the same color roses that I had in my bouquet on the cake as well, so it worked out perfectly! I also chose not to have the bouquet that came with the Amber package because I didn't like any of them. If you can describe or bring a picture of what you are looking for, they are willing to try it (unless its a more expensive flower and then you would have to pay more). I wanted roses so there was no addtl charge for that.

Again great info! Thanks so much.  We purchased the Emerald package and I'm not crazy about all of the brown on our cake in the pic.  I was going to ask them to change the brown to pink.  Nice to know that it's not going to be a problem :)

Good to know about the bridal bouquet as well.  I was going to ask them to add some pink in mine.  A couple less things to worry about!  Your cake was simple and beautiful.  We only have 12 people so a 3 layer cake will totally be wasted.  Maybe I'll have them deliver wedding cake to everyone eating at the restaurant! LOL

We chose the steakhouse as well.  From looking at your pics and Jess's it seems that you get the most privacy this way.

I haven't heard from the WC, but I'm not upset yet.  I think if I don't hear from them by the 1st or 2nd week in April I may get a little pissy!

Yeah, Tres Leches is exactly what Amber said -- a vanilla cake drenched in 3 different "milks".  It is SO moist and SO good!!  I actually chose it specifically because I would not find anything like it back home!!  I actually tried to make one myself after coming back, and it was a complete failure lol.  I can't wait to have more when we go back for our anniversary!!  Our first day there, they had it on the buffet at El Greco, and right there I knew that would be our wedding cake flavor!!

Hey Chase,

I havent heard from the wedding coordinator, but I would imagine you would hear first since yours is just a couple weeks prior to mine. Let me know when you hear from her, Yesenia said 30-60 days prior, and I am almost to the 60 day mark and would like to at least start planning some things so not everything is all at once!

I love Tres Leches cake!! Its very good!!

I'll let you know.  Yesenia told me that I would be hearing from the Miami WC in March, but uh she's running out of time!

I've pretty much picked out my wedding event locations, I just need to let them know where I want to have everything.  Yesenia told me that I'm the only bride on my day so I don't think I'll have a problem.

As for the ceremony, I bought a package so I think I'm okay there.

I'm bringing the decorations for my cocktail party and my dinner.  I pretty much figured out what I wanted and needed based on past brides that I've chatted with on this thread.  If it wasn't for their help I think I would be freaking out.

The last few post about the cake and bouquets helped me figure out what I needed with that.

I've diy almost everything for our wedding and I'm so thankful for all the help from this site and the other brides.  And I purchased my own table runners and napkins on e-bay.  When I get a chance I'll have to post all of my diy pics!  I've been very busy!!

I did however, book all of the spa/salon services and received a confirmation e-mail.  I read somewhere that the spa/salon books up quick because of the resort dollars.

You can book your appointments with this e-mail. Martha Ponce: e-mail: mponce@allinclusivecollection.com

I just finished doing my OOT bags over the weekend :)052.JPG

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
