You should have already signed your contract when you first decided to go with Palace.  That is usually handled by the Miami office so it wouldn't be your WC sending you that.  You may want to check with Yesenia to make sure you actually have a wedding booked. Yikes!

You would think since they do have so many weddings going thru their office it would be no problem to move us along the path timely.  I mean 38 days and nothing done, thats a little too close. It would be nice for the WC to at least send us the contract so we can pay for our wedding services and make sure we are booked for our wedding...

haha!  We booked the wedding last year, but we are trying to add additional services, which require a payment and contract from the WC.

I guess my update is they've switched my WC from Maggie to Carolina.

Believe it or not my fiancé and I aren't usually so easily annoyed, but this is our big day and we just thought the WC would be more helpful.  I totally get they have other brides (such as yourselves), but they do this everyday, it shouldn't be so difficult to get someone to respond to requests for us to get a contract and for us to pay and them move us along to the next phase.

You can book the spa/salon apts ahead of time, but they won't let you book the tours ahead of time.  Yesenia stated it's because of the weather conditions and the tours are non-refundable.

No worries, I e-mailed you the spa/salon info! :)

Oh well our guest list isn't huge (20 people) so i don't think it will be to hard to plan quickly.

Really i just want to be able to plan excursions for our group and spa appointments (hair and make up for the day of). Also we want to decide on menu options/restaurants.

Sounds like this is normal! so hopefully we hear from her soon (our WC is Maggie - anybody have experience with her?)

we are excited though!!

And maybe i will see some of you ladies there during our trip!

Congrats everyone!

I was told Maggie is new so she's in the horrible learning curve time!

My first and only contact with Palace was a call from Maggie about 2 weeks ago, which was not productive at all to be honest (she didn't seem very informed on our wedding details, she kept putting me on hold to 'check' on things, etc.). My TA who uses Palace all the time & even got married there herself said the on site coordinator contacts us about 45 days out, so I'm waiting til then to book my spa appts, restaurant res for rehearsal dinner, all the lil decor details, etc.

Hang in there and let us know in the meantime if we can help w/any questions cheesy.gif

I was just thinking the same thing!  We had to sign a wedding package form and put half down and then we also signed a group contract and had to pay for the bride and grooms room in full.

I would definitely call Yesenia and confirm.

Just read your response after I responded.  Sorry! If that's the case, I agree with you!  I think I would be pissing a fit by now and asking to speak to her boss.  Good luck!

We were Married Feb 1, 2012, Honestly I had the same experience you had.  That said Planning the big day can be done onsite fairly smoothly, its the little extras that will be difficult, I tried to pay our bills in advance and in the end we paid it the night before the wedding as it was not organized prior to that.  The tours are fairly simple to book, if you are using your resort credits, if you are planning off site adventures it is very easy to book them through other operators.  I booked my xcaret/xplor/xel-ha through the booking online with xcaret, it gives you a discount and is the same product you can purchase at the resort.  Duende Tours handled all of our adventure bookings and did an incredible job, Sky dive playa you can book without the resort and I was incredibly pleased.  As for the wedding planning, honestly the resort is in chaos, the wedding coordinators really do the best they can, but when you are dealing with chaos it can breed chaos, I know a ton of people on here have said that their experiences were great, mine was not as perfect, but I can say if you are really really worried, the best thing i did for my wedding was prearrange the planning with Yamine De Lamora she is a wedding planner that I found on here, and the resort will charge you a fee to bring her in, but she will go way above and beyond to make your day perfect.  The decor I handled through the company the resort suggests Ysenia, again she did a wonderful job.  I wanted something very different, Petals in the shape of the sun and a palm frond walkway.  The petals were not possible on our big day as the weather was not cooperative, and I made some incredible beaded chair decor that she painstakingly put on in the rain.  So there are ways to make your day incredible.  The things that went wrong were the things that Aventura had control over but you can make sure they don't happen.  Get everything doubled checked and on paper in your meeting prior to the wedding, that means its on a calendar and I highly so very highly recommend La Hacienda for your dinner the service and meals were incredible.

When your day comes, the good the bad and the ugly won't matter.  You will have the people you love with you in paradise, and you will be celebrating your love, no matter what happens it will be amazing!

Hi Ladies!  I'm checking out the Aventura thread because I just won the BDW hotel stay.  I got married at Catalonia Riviera Maya next door, so it will be exciting to be back.  We might do a simple vow renewal while we are there. It isn't booked yet, but we are planning for May.

When does the switch to Hard Rock take place?  Anyone know what that will be like?  Just Rock n Roll displays?  I've actually never been to a Hard Rock.

I loved Puerto Aventuras.  The hotel is walking distance to a marina.  Some of our guests went fishing with captain ricks.  We chartered vans to Coba & Gran Cenote.  My favorite excursion was just a short cab ride to Paamul for snorkeling.  Wear shoes or fins though.  My husband stepped on a sea urchin.  Paamul was beautiful.  It's where the locals vacation & everyone was in an open air restaurant so we had the beach to ourselves.  Kayaking around the lagoon was fun, too.  I personally like the rocky beaches in that area.  They were beautiful for photos.

So excited to be heading back to Mexico.  Will anyone be there around May 17th?

Ahh!! Congrats Morgan!!!!!  I was married at ASP last June, and am heading back for our anniversary this June!  I think the switch isn't happening until after this summer?  Although some have been saying that things are slowly starting to change now?  I believe they are keeping the integrity of the resort the same but just mainly changing the decor???  I wish I had any information for you about that...I'm trying not to worry about any of it because we are already booked to go back, and we had an amazing time the first time we were there.

Thanks!  I looked at pictures of the Hard Rock in DR.  It looks just like the tropical hotel it was before but then with some hard rock decor inside. So I don't see it having a negative impact now.  maybe it will be kind of cool.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
