On the day of  the wedding, bride and groom can remove the arm bands, but save them to return them at the front desk.

Quick question,  Do you where arm bands at this resort??  I know that at the dreams resrot you dont have to!  just wondering :)

My brief review....everything was amazing!! Cristina did a great job of setting it all up the way I wanted. I got so so lucky. I rained Thursday and poured Saturday but was absolutely beautiful on Friday!! I road up to the coba gazebo in the carriage with my mom, she walked me down the path, the my dad walked me down the aisle. The whole ceremony was beautiful. Food was delicious and the reception was a blast. I just got the DVD delivered last night. I was mostly happy with it. David and the entire bridal party danced down the aisle and the videographer got most of it but when he edited it he threw in a repeat piece of video that didn't go with the song playing. That was the only bad part. Oh and the fact I look 20 lbs heavier on camera. :( so weird but oh well. ASP was beautiful just like everyone has said. I can't wait to go back. Very sad it will be Hard Rock. I think it's going to ruin its charm. Oh and La Luna is AMAZING!!!

Anyways...we fly home tmrw and I don't go back to work til Tuesday so I have plenty of time to post pics, write reviews, etc.

HAVE A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!

Taryn, do you have any pictures yet? I'm eager to see them! Also, any suggestions for other soon-to-be Aventura brides?? We leave exactly a week from tomorrow and I am so excited/nervous! I hope everything goes smoothly, but it sounds like it willcheesy.gif

Hi hun!!  So sorry.  I've been so busy catching up at work and trying to load all the photos to a shared website and organize them and all that fun stuff.  I've totally neglected you Aventura brides.  So so sorry!!

I am still writing up my review but should be done very soon.  Here are some pics from our guests from the wedding.  The bridal party danced down the aisle so I am throwing in one of those.  Gives you a good idea of how the view is.  GORGEOUS!!!

The pro pics won't be done for about 8 weeks.  Sucks!!

Just to add some additional info...

It rained Thurs and absolutely poured on Sat but Friday was beautiful, warm. slightly windy and absolutely gorgeous.  We got so lucky.  I think I would have had a meltdown if it was raining like it was.  Cristina was an amazing WC.  I can't say enough good things about her.  She did a fantastic job of setting everything up and making it all work.  The carriage picked me up close to the room we were getting ready in and we had to wait a while (in the shade) while the bridal party did their performance.  Then they dropped me and my mom off at the top of the stairs, we walked down the path (yes there were people laying out right there next to the gazebo :( oh well ), my dad walked me down the aisle, the minister read my whole ceremony script as I wrote it but had a very hard accent so was hard to understand at times, we had David's sister read the sand ceremony script, and then we KISSED!!  The ceremony went very well.  We rushed to take pics since the sun was already setting and getting dark fast.  We took our individual pics and before we knew it the reception was starting.  We had a friend be in charge of our iPad to play the specific playlists we created, food was delicious (Yucatan), we did dances, speeches, cut the cake (delicious), threw the bouquet and tossed the garter within the first 2 hours so our photogs could capture those moments.  Then we were able to get everyone up to dance for 2 full songs.  That was so awesome.  Then half were dancing, half were sitting and talking and then it ended at 10.  Some of us headed to the disco but stopped in the lobby to ride the bull....yup a mechanical bull.  When it was all over we went back to the room, took showers, ordered room service and 2 slices of our cake and they brought the whole damn thing to us LOL.  It was so good....I hated having to leave it behind.  Well I want to keep this brief for now but please ask any questions and I will continue to work on my full review.

Side note:  Video - it was good but not great.  We are glad we got it so we could have those memories but his editing SUCKED!!  He missed a part of the dancing and decided to add in a repeat part of video that did not go at all.  So bad.  Also it sounds like the minister reads the ceremony in a sound proof backroom and then they add it in and then they add in our voices when needed and it is so obvious because of the background noise.  That bothered me too.  But oh well - at least we got it on video.

Here are some more pics of the reception site and cake.  Our reception was held at Solarium Mundaca.  Even though it was big for only 26 people it was still gorgeous, had great views and felt so private.

Thanks so much for all the info Taryn!! It's so exciting and I'm so glad you had such an amazing timecheesy.gif The pictures you showed so far look gorgeous!

I do have a few questions I wanted to ask you...

What flavor cake did you have? Also, did you upgrade the cake since it looked like a bigger one?

What time was your ceremony at? I know you said you felt rushed through pictures because it was getting dark. I was concerned about that too!

Did you bring the centerpieces yourself? Your tables looked awesome! Were those real votive candles or battery operated? I wanted real candles but was concerned about them staying lit outside with the wind.

I have totally been a FREAK about the weather also, because it seems to be raining there alot! I'm stalking the 10 day weather forecast and hoping it's wrong!!

top=strawberry-didn't get to try, middle=marble-just ok, bottom=cheescake-AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!!

Also, did you upgrade the cake since it looked like a bigger one?

yes I did but you can ask for one layer to be fake - we were going to do that but just went with the whole thing

What time was your ceremony at? 4pm I know you said you felt rushed through pictures because it was getting dark. I was concerned about that too! The sun was setting in my eyes which is why I have David blocking my face the whole time during the ceremony.  Then it was set behind the buildings by the time we were done and darkness came pretty quick but the photogs got some great pics.  What time is yours at?

Did you bring the centerpieces yourself? I sure did!!  Plates, vases, led lights, acrylic ice, pebbles and the votives. Your tables looked awesome! Thank you! Were those real votive candles or battery operated? Battery operated flicker votives.  So convenient.  I wanted real candles but was concerned about them staying lit outside with the wind.

I have totally been a FREAK about the weather also, because it seems to be raining there alot! I'm stalking the 10 day weather forecast and hoping it's wrong!!  Try not to worry.  It is out of your control and most days are absolutely gorgeous!!  The day before/day of if it is raining only the bride and the WC decide if the wedding will continue - no one else haha.  She makes that point clear to the groom during the meeting.  But I bet you will be fine and it will be gorgeous for you!!

Anything else?

I can't thank you enough for all the pics and info! They are nice to see so close to leaving. Our ceremony is at 3pm so we should be fine with that! The resort looks so awesome and I love how they wrote "I Love You" in rose petals...very nice touch!

So what did you guys end up doing at the resort on the days it rained?

Also, did you and your guests mostly enjoy the food there? Any specific restaurant that you would suggest? Did you eat at Mundaca?

Sorry for all the questions!! My mind has been racing this past week...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
