Uh oh, that is worry-some! I wonder if they have seen La Luna there too many times. My Photographer has never done a wedding there. We shall see! Can't wait to read your review!

Hey ladies! Got back from ASP yesterday! Our wedding was April 8th. We had a great time overall but had quite a few things go wrong. I almost think if I write a review I might scare people haha. A couple quick things I wanted to share since I got so much help from here:

Warning!! - I hired LaLuna for photography and was planning on just getting them guest passes like so many other brides have done. LaLuna also told me they had been to the resort with guest passes before with no problem. Well when I had my meeting with cristina and told her the names for the guest passes she says "they are photographers" and made me pay for a room for the night for them in order for them to be allowed in. I tried to argue and told her it was not fair when I knew that so many other brides had done it, and I cried, but it got me nowhere. She said so many people have been hiring outside vendors so they had to crack down on it.

We went to Xplor and had a great time! The ziplinig was really fun. They have 2 huge courses. The bad thing was that we booked it through one of the vacation planners at the resort and he told us that we could use our vacation dollars. When we checked out however it was charged to our bill and we were told that it is not part of the vacation dollars.  So we ending up spending way more money then expected between this and the whole photography thing!

You probably want to check in with Christina. My contact point was lily@decancun.com she was fabulous but I haven't been in contact with her recently since we scheduled the cigar party over 6 months ago.

Do you have his info or should I ask my WC Cristina for it?  That sounds really fun and I think that would be a great thing for the guys to do for my FI's bachelor party.

Bank Nelson, Would you be willing to PM with a mini review....scary or not we leave in two weeks and we are already hitting problems with the resort. I would rather be prepared and know what to expect then to find out when I get there. I am so sorry that it was bumpy. :(. -Mia

You really just plan the details on your own. We had our rehearsal/welcome dinner at the Spa Terrace. I told Wilma how I wanted it set up and I picked out the menu. Everything else was planned by hubby and me.

I think my FI and I have decided to go with the resort photographer instead of trying to use an outside one.  I am too afraid of having an issue once I'm down there, and I have honestly seen good work from them anyway.  We decided its not worth the stress of chancing it after all :o  ALTHOUGH, I am still keeping my outside photog for our TTD session the day after.  He is 1/2 the price!

Having said that..I noticed that their website no longer lists what you can and cannot use your resort dollars for!?!?!?!  I emailed them about that, but I'm sure it will take awhile for me to hear back.  I am just hoping to god they didn't take the resort dollars option away from that!!!  I think we would absolutely die if they did!!  We were already planning on using the resort dollars for the videographer anyway, so hopefully we can just use the rest for a photog package too.

Jess- my FI and I are using the resort photographer also. I think it just makes things alot easier! How have you seen the work that they do? I would like to see some examples...

Banksnelson- Sorry to hear about the issues you had. It seems like they do not stay true to their word at all! It just sucks, because you never know if what they're telling you is true or not. I think I speak for others too, that we would like to hear about the other issues you had, whether it scares us or not:/ Haha its going to be reality!

Does anyone know what toiletries the resort gives you in the room?? I know shampoo, conditioner, soap...but do they leave shower gel, body lotion, etc...? I'm trying to figure out what I should include in the OOT bags and I don't want to repeat things if the resort already puts them in the room...

I am just going to take my chances and still use my photographer.  If I have to buy him a room for the night then I will do it.  I had debated using the resot photographer before I booked Gonzalo and they were really rude.  I was left with a really bad impression of them.  My photographer has never done a wedding at our resort so I am hoping that they won't recognize his name.  I am already giving the resort enough money with the flowers and the DJ and bringing 60+ people so hopefully I can get away with it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
