we didnt ask for a package, we just said that we wanted a dj, sound system, lights and then i asked for a quote for the 4 lit up columns...thats when all of a sudden the price jumped to almost $4000, so obviously we will not be getting the lit up columns..they look great but thats way too much, and it wasnt even the actual columns that cost so much, it was the labor fees for ppl to set up and transport the columns....so still not sure what were going to do yet...i def want the dj for 4 hours and i def want some kind of lighting b/c i think it makes a big difference...but not willing to spend that much money...do you know if aventura allows any other djs besides J&S? i havent heard back from Yazmin in over a week, so no help there...

Can I ask what package you were asking for?  I know they asked what our decor was but we aren't going crazy over other decor.  (Just told my FI what your quote was and he just hit the roof).  So far DJ is biggest headache.

When we get our quote I will let you know what it is.  Let me know if you want me to email you the info that Yazmin sent to us to compare to what you got. ~Mia

Jess:

I just started getting replies 3months out... I think back in Feb, I only received one response to an email. Nothing to worry about at this point...

We asked Yazmin if we could bring in our own DJ when we were down there.  The issue was as she explained it...was that they would need to charge us for the electricity we used (ie: equipment fee) and that would be fairly high.  Although, everything in writing said no outside vendors it did not seem t be impossible. I just think nailing down a price and coordinating may be hard.

I havent asked her how many weddings are scheduled on the same day. For some reason Im not too worried about it. Im getting there on Monday and the wedding is Friday so I feel like that will give me enough time to plan out things while Im out there.

Unfortunately, I am going back to Mexico for their wedding. My FI is in the wedding. Its at the Iberostar Paraiso. Im not excited about this, but what can I do?

The shower was so Nice!!!!!! I was so happy how well my MOH put it together. We played games and the food was soo good. It was at a Portuguese restaurant in Newark and they played music for us. Everybody had a blast!cheesy.gif

On another note, did you ask Dulce how many other weddings there are on your day? I'm curious to know how many others have been scheduled on mine...

Have fun at your shower tomorrow! Can't wait to hear how it went... :-)

Nicole,

I just emailed you my quote from JSAV. We had DJ at our welcome dinner and our reception w/lighting and it was only $1400. Which is still pricey, but what can you do. I tried to hire an outside vendor for music but Dulce said that they wouldn't have time to show them where all the connections are and they would charge us for them to be on property. So...we paid. I have to admit...it was worth it! We danced all night long!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
