I wonder if the TTD can be paid for in Vacation Dollars. That might be cool.

That's interesting, I received an email from my WC yesterday about photo prices and the promo dollars stating that the promo dollars cannot be used for photography... Here is what Wilma wrote:

** The prices regarding photos and DVD have changed; the Wedding Planner that I sent you has the current prices for those services.

** Thank you for the guest list

** Regarding the $ 1500, this promotion applies for Wedding Collections, it doesnâ€t apply for extra charges, if you have the Complementary Package, you can use this promotion for Spa Services, Tours and/or Golf. For further information, you can see our website regarding this promotion.

** Please find attached our Private Events Wedding Planner

If you have more questions regarding your wedding, feel free to email me J

Best Regards

Wilma

I replied to her stating that the new photo website indicates the promo dollars CAN be used. Haven't heard back yet..

URGHHH...can we just get a straight answer?

As long as there are no children in your party, you can choose either side as long as it is available.

Does it matter which resort you sign the contract for?  Spa vs Cove

When do you actually have to pick the wedding and reception site?  I have seen a lot of pictures of the gazebos and reception areas but I am not sure if that is all of them.  Am I obligated to stick to one side if that is the side I am signing the contract for??

Thanks!!

skadow, I agree. All of these changes are confusing. I thought I had it all together a few weeks ago....APPARENTLY NOT. smile35.gif
Once I receive a response back from the email the WC sent to me, I will post an update. In the meantime, I plan to check out Octavio Montes.

However...as sgray stated. It says you CAN use them on the Wedding Packages. These people need to hire us to do their stuff. I think they are confused.

Why, oh why, cant them PDF the darn document and send it to us! This way I would be able to figure out what I can plan on handling down their and what I should bring. I have been making a lot of assumptions and I do not like working that way. In todayâ€s technological world, PDFâ€s and computer files shouldnâ€t not be that outrages to expect.

Also…I to thought the wedding planner would be a tad more pro-active. If I did not know about this site, I would have never thought to ask her about Djâ€s and such. I would have assumed they would take care of contacting me with what optional services I need…then created a quote/budget.

I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HUNT DOWN EMAIL ADDRESS FOR PEOPLE I AM GIVING MONEY TOO!

I am not impressed with their organizational skills so far.

I totally agree!! It is stressful! I am afraid I am going to miss out on something bc I didnt know about it ahead of time. Or end up spending more money then I am planning on because I dont have all my options to figure out. But Im sure it will all work out ok. I was hoping that they might be more helpful once it got closer to my date but you seem way more organized and planned then I am so I guess I should just start figuring it out on my own too!

It clearly says on the website that those packages with a $ sign next to them are available for Vacation Dollars.  Print it out if you have to.  I speak with Yesenia and she is very helpful.  Sometimes it is helpful to go right to the sales rep.  My wedding coordinator doesn't answer my emails, I think because it is too far away from my wedding date to care!?  My WC is Dulce.

Hi ladies...so in 8 weeks, i leave for Mexico! woo hoo!

@sxct - It doesnt matter if you sign the agreement with the spa or cove side, also you can pick to have your ceremony on one side of the resort and your reception on the other, as long as they are available and as long as you dont have kids involved, in that case cove side only..I believe that they dont really let you start reserving locations till 2-3 months before...

@jszy10 - dont tell your wc anything about hiring a photographer...the only time you mention their name is when you are providing the resort with your wedding guest list, at that time you tell them that you need to purchase day passes for guests that are staying at other resorts...also, keep in mind when choosing between the resort photographer and an outside vendor, that your photographer is very important, his work will be the only visual reminder you have of your important day...so who is the photographer that the resort uses...can you see his work? can you read reviews? can you go on a website and view updated pictures of his? these are all imortant questions to ask yourself...

@banknelson-- relax and try not to stress! remember that is the whole reason why people have destination weddings....so they can stay away from the stress and drama! everything will work out and be beautiful...once you get off that plane and walk onto the beautiful resort, youre not going to care about the lil things, bc its just going to be so beautiful....when youre staring at palm trees and crystal blue water, who cares what color linens the tables have :)

Thanks Nicole...I think we have been so worried about staying in our budget (because of having an AHR) that we forget those things sometimes...  Now I just kind of feeling like I don't know what to do.  I am checking out some of the girls' pictures that got married this summer and used him...

Skadow,

I am with you 100%.  When we did our site inspection Yazmin took us into her office and started showing us swatches of table clothes...tons of them and I was overwhelmed because I hadn't gotten that far in planning.  There were a lot more options then are contained in an e-mail. And if you don't ask for certain items they aren't sent to you.

What she did say was that if you send pictures of floral arrangements (centerpieces bouquets etc) that you like or even table settings that you like she can get you a quote and replicate it.  So I recently send her an e-mail with a bunch of different options because I know nothing about floral costs except that they are expensive.  Knowing how much flowers cost will dictate what we can spend on other things.

Also if you did not go with one of the complimentary cakes I was told by Yazmin that they can make any cake you ask for free of charge unless they need to purchase something special for it.  (ie: cake topper etc) so I just sent her a pic of the cake we wanted. (hopefully that works out)

The free events really helped our budget and we are not have an AHR.  Which I am fine with especially since this destination wedding has ballooned up...

I am so grateful for all of you guys in this process.  Especially all the resent updates of price changes.  It really lets me know that it is probably better to lock in prices and contracts early so they magically go up on us.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
