It's actually one resort..they just split it into two sides (by a gate that stays open at all time). So really you aren't walking in between 2 at all just one large one.

And just a word of caution...if you're trying to accommodate the kids for all wedding activities, everything has to be planning on the Cove Side...they make no exceptions for kids on the Spa side even if it's wedding related.

Thanks and that is good information. How do they monitor whether someone is under 18? I have one person that will be 17 that turns 18 two months after our trip... Do they ID?

Well you have to give your age when you make the reservation. Then when you check in you get wrist bands and you wear those the whole time you're there. Anyone under 18 has a different color wrist band than everyone else (my sister's was bright purple) so it stood out that she was underage. It's quite dumb those because the disco is on the Cove side and you have to be over 18 to go in there...

Hi NAM,

I am getting married in 13 days at Aventura..I see you had someone doing your hair and your makeup in your room.. Did you hire them from the resort or were they from the salon? If you hired them from outside the resort..how did you find them and was it expensive? Also, how did you like Del Sol Photography? I am still trying to decide about the photography..

Congratulations...that's so close!!!
Nope, they aren't related to the resort. His name is Fernado Fuentes (make-up) and I don't know who the guy doing my hair was...just one of his work partners. He was a recommendation from Del Sol and he was a bit pricey...about $500 for trial plus wedding day hair and make up. Plus 2 days of day passes for both...so about $700 total.
Yes, I absolutely loved working with Del Sol. They have been great through the whole process and I couldn't be happier with the pictures. Not sure that they would be available though this close to the date but wouldn't hurt to check!
Good luck!

I'm trying to figure out what we should do for our guests (tours, etc..) and I wanted to see what did all of you do for your wedding?

So far we have the following planned

Thursday 6/24 - Welcome party (meet up at the lobby for drinks then head to dinner)

Friday 6/25 - Thinking of doing some type of group activity late morning and early afternoon. 7pm - dinner reservations

Saturday 6/26 - Wedding starts at 3pm. Cocktail reception from 4:30 to 6pm then dinner reservations afterwards.

Sunday 6/27 - Thinking of doing brunch

What do you guys think?

Questions about the wedding packages:

I was initially under the impression that hair, nails and makeup were included in the wedding package I purchased, but now I've gone back and re-read it and it doesn't mention it anywhere. Does that cost extra?

Second, my question is regarding the "dinner reservation for up to 35 guests." How strict is this? I have between 35 to 40 guests, does that mean I HAVE to purchase a private event? And is the dinner reservation just reserving a section at one of the restaurants? If I want to eat at the Pandero Terrace, is that considered a private event?

Sorry for a million questions, I just realized how unclear I am with all of this and would like to anticipate any extra costs once we arrive.

Thanks in advance!

I have received a spa menu with all the prices and to get your hair done it's aprx $42. I think make-up is around the same amount.
As for dinner, I dont think they would be that stricted if you are over by a couple of people for the dinner reservations. I would check with your onsite coordinator to see what they think. My coordinator is Dulce and she is very helpful and accommodating.

I will see if I can find the spa menu and post it.

Thanks for the reply! That was very helpful. My coordinator is Yazmin, and she's been pretty slow so far, and not very thorough about explaining things... It's getting pretty frustrating. I find I get faster, more accurate answers from this forum anyways haha.

Your itinerary seems very similar to what mine is going to look like. Friday I was thinking of doing some kind of icebreaker game/group activity. Scavenger hunt maybe? Something to get everyone acquainted and comfortable with each other before the wedding. What were you thinking of?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
