WC Jewel Marsh - has anyone used her???

Recommended Posts

We are having our wedding in Ocho Rios while in port on a cruise. I do not want to pay a large fee to use a resort, and would like to have a beach ceremony. We have been in contact with Jewel Marsh, wedding coordinator of Sunvillas, she has given me nonitemized quotes and never directly answers my specific questions. She was recommended by the restaurant we are using for the lunch. Has anyone gotten quotes from her or used herhuh.gif We have tried Almarie from TWJ since everyone says she so responsive, but she really hasn't been for us. She keeps giving me quotes for what we don't want. Any suggestionshuh.gif

Helen Graham was the wedding coordinator I was in contact with before I decided on ROR. She is out of Kingston, but does do weddings in Ocho Rios. She was excellent about answering all of my questions, and so attentive about what I wanted for my wedding day, I felt bad that I was not going to use her.

She has a great website with packages, prices and photos.

Good luck!

She was recommended by the restaurant we are using for the lunch, but she first said she needs a $100 deposit to reserve our date. But when I asked her about it again since the contract said $200, she came back and told me to cross out the contract and make it $300. This doesn't seem right, considering every document she has sent us has said $200. Granted that is not a very large deposit, but since she will not tell me prices for individual items, I am afraid of what I am getting myself into. Originally, I tried Jewell Marsh. Her prices were abstract. When I finally received exact pricing from her. They were unreasonable. So, I did some more research and found Michelle Levene-Phillips at Wedding Planners Plus. I asked her for references. She provided me with their emails and phone numbers.

Here's her website; Wedding Planner Plus - Home page.

She also provides a pretty detailed pricing on her website. Plus, you can contact her via email at weddings2@hotmail.com. She also has a US land line for her US brides to call.

In my opinion, she was very easy to contact and work with. I sent her numerous jpegs, spreadsheets, and etc. She was able to interpret them and then made them concrete.

I also included my wedding slide for you to view. I was married at Hibiscus Lodge Hotel in Ocho Rios on August 27, 2007. Here's the link to my wedding slide show; Binjour-Lee Wedding: 8-25-07--Ocho Rios, Jamaica by jeannette.binjour.

She not only works with Hibiscus Lodge Hotel. She works with all the hotels/resorts in the Ocho Rios area. She also has connections with all the vendors in the area. So, she was able to work my budget.

Fyi, I had between 150-175 guests at my wedding.

Good Luck!!

Everyone has their own experiences I guess. I am using her and so far she has been precise with me on the pricing and she gets back to me pretty quickly. I am sorry you are having problems with her but so far she has been great. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Thanks, I will definitely consider her and am anxious to get her pricing and locations. If her pricing is right I will most likely use her, afterall everyone has to start somewhere, how bad can someone mess up putting chairs on a beach!

I know you have been in contact with Norma and although being a wedding coordinator is a new venture for her, I would trust her with my wedding. She basically coordinated a ton of things for me without being my actual coordinator because she wasn't doing that at the time. She is great to work with and her prices are always fair.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
