Real Estate Agent question

Recommended Posts

a few months back we were looking to get new house. we put bid in on a house we loved but sadly, it fell through b/c we never sold our house and werent about to take on two mortgages. sucked, but everything happens for a reason (so they say)... well ive not been too impressed with our agents work. he is from joe's neighborhood, and knows the same group of friends as joe, so it was on a "friend" basis, i think that might be the problem. i just felt like he never called us, never takes people through to check our house out, he has not called us or anythingggg in the last few months, he just vanished into thin air. his contract was up about 2 months ago, but i had these thoughts before that. the for sale sign is still up, its just strange to me he has not called. AND we actually saw him twice and he never even mentioned it!! he just said "hi" to us, duh??!! anyway, joe and i decided to take house off market, and after we were married we were gonna use another realty co. so joe took the sign off the lawn but didnt call the agent to tell him. so- i was going to call him today, but first i thought id check out the website to see if our house was even still up, and............. its not even there!!!!!!!!arent they supposed to contact you? he never even called to renew or anything. this is my first time selling and looking for a house, so i have no idea if our agent just sucks or if thats the way it works.

i guess my main question is- even though his contract is up, does that mean our house goes off the market too without us calling? and two- does it hurt us since out house was up for so long and didnt sell? smile67.gif

Ohhh ok. I didnt realize it came right off the market, but I guess that IS what the contract is for. Ha the "For Sale" sign has been up, like, come get your sign jerky! If I was a RA, I'd communicate alil better I think. I just thought he'd call and touch base, see if we wanted to renew his contract, or something, ya know? Oh well smile124.gif We were still interested ya know.

Damn, Jac, that sounds like he sucks. Our real estate agent, Dino (you know him), is pretty good. We talk to him every few days about houses that we like or didn't like. He set us up on his website to email us any houses within a specific criteria daily. (You can do this yourself too, at places like www.kellerwilliams.com, REALTOR.com - Real Estate Listings & Homes For Sale, and oh crap I can't remember the others!)

But it doesn't sound like he was that interested in helping you guys out, that really sucks.

Yeah it does suck but on the same hand, it's a blessing in disguise (spelling??) only b/c I personally think we should wait until after we are married to look into moving. Too much going on, ya know? We are def not using him again and maybe a new company all together!!

Thx ladies!

I don't know a whole lot about pre extising homes. But I sold for builders for 10yrs. I would contact a new realtor and have them do a market analysis for you. And see how long it shows that your house was on the market and how long it is taking other houses around you to sell. That way it will give you a better idea of a time frame of selling and moving. That agent SUCKS!!! Don't use him again. With the market the way it is he shold be up your butt. Here is STL the best time to sell is spring and before school starts. Otherwise it is a hit and miss. That is why I had to plan a Oct. wedding.

jac, i agree that you need a new agent. when we first started looking at single family houses, we were working with a friend of a friend. dh was the one to call and tell him about new houses that came on the market, and set up appointments. when we finally put our townhouse up for sale, we didn't even call him to tell him.

good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
