AHR this weekend - Anyone have a recipe for ...

Recommended Posts

Hi, Ladies!

We're having our AHR this weekend (informal Jamaican BBQ at our house) and I was wondering if any of you had a good recipe for rum punch?

We're going with a whole Jamaican theme - jerk chicken kabobs, rice, beans (all catered, thank God), red stripe and rum punch.

Thanks in advance!

Desiree

and this too:

Rum Punch is a staple in Jamaica, and is the perfect summertime drink. Everywhere you go, you’ll find rum punch. There are seemingly endless variations on this classic Jamaican drink, but this recipe is the most basic. This is closest to what I had most often in Jamaica, although I also tried more advanced variations, which I’ll mention at the end of the recipe.

Ingredients

The basic measurements are as follows:

1 part sour

2 parts sweet

3 parts strong

4 parts weak

What is used for each part (sour, sweet, strong, and weak) is what provides the endless variations. What I found most often is closest to these ingredients:

1 part fresh lime juice

2 parts grenadine syrup (Note: Anchor Cherry Syrup is more traditional in Jamaica, but harder to find elsewhere.)

3 parts Wray & Nephew Overproof White Rum

4 parts water

Preparation

Mix all ingredients in a pitcher or punch bowl. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving. Serve over ice.

Ever tried a Jamaica Smilehuh.gif We lived on those during our trip..lol It is half Strawberry Daquri, half Pina Coloda and then Rum Cream on top (Bailey or another irish cream wisky works too). I know it really doesn't work well for you AHR but when I saw Rum punch it brought back memories of Jamaica Smiles...lol My BM is having a 4th of July party next weekend and rented an resturant stye machine from Ace Hardware that will hold 2 different types of frozen drinks so we are making Smiles then! I cannot wait. I have actually been thinking about renting on for our reception but not sure if it is too late because we are only 2 weeks away now. Plus I think we would be spending more than we intended on on alcohol.

Sorry I know this was off topic alittle bit:-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
