Selecting a photog is probably the most important choice you're going to make on many levels. Your photog is going to spend more time with you than any other vendor, so make sure you like their personality and you feel that having him or her around for entire day will "add" to your overall experience.

When choosing a photog I would recommend that you look at several photogs work online, then narrow the list down to your top 5 or so. Then call the photogs and speak to them personally. Try to get a sense of who they are, what's their drive? Is it about them and their "art" or is it about making you happy and its really hard to do that over email. Are they trying to sell you "stuff" right from the start? or do you get the sense that they genuinely care about your vision?

They are all good. My problem was the ones I wanted were already booked. So we looked into bringing one with us. Witch we are doing. It was the same cost to fly him there and pay for 6 night and get pics for all 6 days as it was to hire one there for just the wedding.

There are many options out there. Keep looking you will find what best suits you.

Ok, so after hours of researching and based on availability, my budget and their work I've narrowed it down to two guys, MARIANO LEMUS of Distinctive Wedding Photography or GABRIEL GARCIA, gabrielgarciaphoto.com

Gabriel Garcia is less expensive than Mariano, but I like Mariano's pics a little better... I'm just not sure it's worth the difference in price....I mean Gabriel's pics are nice too...

HELP!! Any tips from people who've worked with these guys?

  • 1 month later...

I've seen the pics from Tomas Barron, and some other photgraphers... and even though they're all really good, it all comes down to dear ol' money, right?... I, personally, would go with Tomas Barron, He's a really cool guy and He doesn't get on the way, also, He is not as expensive as others.

Cheers

I did a lot of research and booked Tomas Barron about a month ago. He was nothing but friendly in our correspondence and he is quick to respond to any questions. I can't wait for him to take our wedding photos. Good luck in your search.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
