Questions about site visits....

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on getting married Jun '09 and want to do a site visit to a few places in Rivera Maya. How do you go about this? Do you contact the WC at each resort and tell them what days your coming and do you stay at each hotel or just 1 the whole time? I know these questions may be a little silly but just not sure.

Thanks!

My plan was to narrow down to my top 3- which then became my top 2 places really once the coordinator wasn't getting back to me after several emails/calls. You set it up with the wedding coordinator and let her know that you are doing a site visit and pick a day/time to see the resort and meet with her.

good luck!

Yep - I'd do what Phoebe said. Plan your trip - Narrow your list down to two or three places you want to see. Take a good look at their wedding packages and see if there are any out of pocket expenses, (do they provide a cake, flowers etc.). Consider any othe places you MAY need to get anything from, (beauty salons, grocery stores, vases,) check out those places as well. Maybe try an excursion on a tour company if you are considering doing that during your wedding with your wedding guests. If you are booking a local band or DJ try to see where they are playing while you are there and go check them out. Check out some recommended restaurants too for rehearsal dinner, welcome dinner, etc. Just try to get as much info as you can during your trip. Pay attention to taxi fares and the distance to shopping - things like that.

It seems like a lot, but in the end you'll have a lot of your questions answered and it will give you a HUGE piece of mind!

Congrats and good luck!

Hey Candie!

We stayed at 1 hotel but emailed/called the WCs at each place we wanted to visit to set up a time with each of them and scheduled them far enough in between and also saw how close they were in between eachother to give us a good idea of how long it would take to travel and get a taxi, etc.

Also, we made sure to review the wedding packages beforehand to see which ones were in our budget and offered things that we wanted, etc. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
