my mom used to home school. she'd take me along with her when I was in elementary school. it was mostly high school girls who were pregnant. she went to their homes though. they didn't come to ours. so I'm not sure how that would work with a baby. she was a high school teacher at the time & they were always looking for someone to take this position.

 

I do think using your degrees is your best bet for getting a good job from home.

 

The town we lived in was right by corpus. there is bound to be something like this in the corpus school district. did you already work in corpus? are you in their system? if not, i'd still make calls anyway. i'll ask my mom, but i think these positions are usually in demand.

I sell real estate, and while I do not work from home (too many distractions), I have a lot of Realtor friends around the country who use virtual assistants. I would imagine you could work as little or as much as you want, and you basically set your own hours (so if baby is crying you can leave work and attend to baby and come back to work when your ready). If you're interested in knowing more let me know and I'd be happy to get you info. (maybe even some clients)

I dont work from home but would LOVE too. When we have kids I want to look for something b/c that would be great. Times are so tuff now days, I couldnt afford to stay home while Joe worked! I'd love it, but it's not realistic in our world ;o( Unless we win loto, which Joe plays religiously! Ok sorry, hi-jacking with my babbling.

I am an Area Sales Manager for a wholesale mortgage lender. I get to work from home with visits in the field to my sales reps clients. Love it! Most of the time

I am a corporate recruiter and currently work from home 3 days/wk, and once we move to AZ after the wedding will be working FT from home out there (until I find a new position out there). I am probably one of the few people that does not enjoy working from home. It is nice to save money on gas and be able to run errands when needed. However, I feel like like the line between work and home life is blurred (although my company benefits since I end up working more hours from home than I do when I go into the office). My job requires you to have a flexible schedule since I recruit for jobs across the US so I am constantly scheduling meetings with hiring managers and candidates in different time zones and working around candidate's work schedules if they are unable to do phone interviews during business hours. I also miss having the interaction with my team which is why I enjoy going into the office. I talk to them on the phone, but after doing phone interviews with candidates all day the last thing I want to do is talk on the phone! I really want to change careers since I think I am also just getting burnt out with what I do, but haven't decided what I want to do.

I work for a computer software company and have the flexibility to work in the office or at home whenever I want/need.

 

Martha, with a teaching background, you might want to look at training jobs--- a lot of companies will hire trainers (who train their clients on their product lines) and allow them to work from home.

 

Also, if you're not as comfortable with sales positions, something like a sales engineer position might be worth exploring.... they usually get to work from home and do things from sales support, to conducting product demo's for the sales reps, or do the research behind RFP's for the sales reps.
