If you go right after Mexico, I would look at some place in South or Central America. Costa Rica is very relaxing but they also have a focus on eco-tourism so there are active things to do like hiking, etc. I haven't been but a friend went for her honeymoon and loved it. Belize is also beautiful and the dollar goes pretty far.

Next year, DH and I are going to Greece, so I think you should just wait and you can tag along with us! LOL I have a client with a second home there who has offered it up. I need to check and see how serious he was about letting us use the house.

My understanding is that Bora Bora is very expensive and I know I would want to stay there for two weeks or more since it takes a while to get there. That might be better saved for a later vacation.

Look at Erin, being all practical! All the rest of us beach bum dreamers still vote Bora Bora, though. (But did you notice how no one's actually BEEN there?)

I completely agree. If we took a seperate honeymoon it would have been to Belize or Costa Rica.

Before I go somewhere I want to have time to research it extensively. It took so much time to plan out our trip last year to london, paris, & normandy. I wouldn't have been able to plan both the wedding & that trip. But, then not everyone likes to be as prepared as me. I just felt like it helped us get the most out of our time there & not run in to any unexpected expenses.

So I personally would not want to have the honeymoon be the dream trip. I'd rather save that for another year when I have time to really plan it right.

Kat, it kind of also depends of what you want to do, do you want to relax? or do you want to visit different sites and learn about history? If you go to Europe (I wouldn't recommend London for a honeymoon) you'll have to be on the go all the time because you'll want to see everything (Venice is stunning, but I would go to Rome and Florence). I've been to the South Pacific and it was spectacular! Bora Bora was my favorite of the islands. We stayed at Le Meridien and it was out of this world, I like the location which is on one of the Motus. Motus are a group of islands that surround the main island. Le Meridien and all of the resorts on the Motus provide water taxi transportation to the island. Also, Le Meridien is right next to the St. Regis which looks absolutely devine! They have all overwater bungalows with their own private pools.

I would recommend if you visit other islands besides Bora Bora, I also went to Moorea and didn't really like it. I recommend Roatonga.

I hope this helps, it's absolutely gorgeous there and you will have a very awesome and relaxing honeymoon.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
