I live right outside of Denver and I'll tell you this. Boulder is a beautiful little "hippie town" It's very close to the foothills and since there is the University nearby, there are a lot of students who reside there. There's a lot of culture there, it's definetely more laid back, about 45 mins from Denver, and has MANY hiking trails that will take your breath away.

YES YES YES! Boulder is very very um how do I say healthy? I don't live there I live south of boulder. Lots of health food stores. My in-laws and DH call it HIPPIE! But hey I love hippie! It's very NFL friendly! I do not know about the nightlife though. I'm pretty sure it's walkable and I've heard lots of bike riding. I'm guessing the weather is like the rest of CO. VERY cold in the winter wink.gif. Are you moving to CO?

Hi Alyssa - I live in Denver, but my parents live in Boulder and my sister lived there for years. Although Boulder can be called "hippie", it can also be called "yuppie"! There are lots of young families and it's quite pricey to actually live IN Boulder. But, that said, it's a beautiful town, set right against the foothills. The hiking, particularly at Chautauqua park, is amazing! There are lots of restaurants, a great farmer's market, lots of dogs, and DEFINITELY lots of outdoor activities - biking, hiking, rock climbing, running, you name it - it's there! And like someone else said, the University provides lots of culture and entertainment.

 

I really don't think it's that cold here in winter - but I moved here from Boston, so the lack of humidity makes a huge difference! Some days will be cold in the winter and you'll get a couple of feet of snow at a time, but it generally melts within 2-4 days and it'll be 60-70 degrees for a couple of days. I found last winter completely painless...though 06-07 winter was a different story.

 

Boulder is pretty liberal, so if you are conservative, I may not suggest Boulder for you. Colorado Springs, on the other hand, is also in the foothills (about an hour south of Denver), but tends to lean further right. It all depends on your political opinion! That said, Denver is hosting the DNC in August...

Haha....I might think the cold is colder than it is. I've lived in the South my whole life. Texas and AL! When I went to Denver this winter and here down by Durango I thought I was gonna freeze to death. So I think if you always have lived in cold places it's not bad. But to me I was dying! wink.gif

haha. That would definitely make a difference! I've lived in Wisconsin and Boston all my life, so the winters here with low humidity and intermittent warmer weather in the winter makes it a piece of cake for me... I guess it's all relative!

I can understand you feeling colder in the mountains, though - there were days this winter it was so cold at Copper Mountain that I thought my butt was going to fall off while skiing!

BRRRR....this winter (I live next door to my in-laws) there was so much snow they lost all power up here and the Red Cross made a shelter in the highschool and the whole town had to live a few days in the highschool! I so am hoping its not like that again! The snow was almost to the roof! YIKES!

I love Boulder! It's a college town, though you could find areas to live that are less college-y. Housing is expensive for CO standards, but nothing like the crazy east coast. People are super active and fit, very healthy. It's gorgeous up there (I grew up outside of Denver)

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations.
