Private Receptions

Recommended Posts

I just got back from my wedding that took place on the 4th and had a semi private reception and it worked out great and got the best of both worlds. I extended the cocktail hour from 5:30 till 8 :30 on the beach - at the cocktail hour I had Horsdoerves that were plenty and fantastic - open rum bar, trio band, PA system, cigar roller and tropical huppa decorations and a firedancer - then we all headed to the air conditioned restuarant which worked out perfect, we were able to take our PA system there to the restaurant and the cake was set up - - - - and with the extra money I saved from doing it this way =I was able to take my guests out the following day on the Private Boat - Snorkeling food and music sunset cruise (Best Lobster Dinner through the Whole Trip!!). It was absolutely amazing!!!!! I strongly suggest doing this if you can. I will be writing my review soon - just need to settle in since I just got home yesterday.

Make sure you check out the rest of the threads in this section. There are tons of pics and info about different resorts. I think Jellyfish would be the PERFECT option since you have family in the DR who might not be staying at the resort. That would be your most cost-effective option. YOu can get married on the beach by Jellyfish as well.

We were married in the gazebo at Paradisus Punta Cana and although some beach-goers did watch our ceremony, we have none in our pictures and the gazebo overlooks the beach but is a bit more private than a true beach wedding.

That is a great idea!! How many guests did you have at your wedding? Which resort did you get married at?

My fiance and I are getting married in June of 2009. We have only ever been to Mexico and know that is not where we want to get married. We will be having about 50 guests at our wedding. We have pretty much narrowed the resorts down to 3. THey are Majestic, Dreams, and Iberostar. Can anyone give me information on any of these resorts to help us pick one?

Hello Everyone

I'll be marrying my wonderful guy on March 14, 2009 at the Gran Bahia Principe in Punta Cana. smile29.gif

Has anyone had a private reception there? What was it like? How far in advance did you book the restaurant, does the dancing happen right there? Are the dj's good?

I have sooo many questions. Any advice/feedback would be awesome!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
