destination and hype

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone that ever wished they had done a different destination due to pricing? I am finding that many of my guests are finding the ROR too expensive so some of the people I would of liked to be there can't.

Is translation worth having guests there? What do you guys think??

My resort wasn't the cheapest. However, I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

If we had chosen a less expensive resort we would have had more guests (probably). But it was not worth it to me to sacrifice what I wanted for the rest of the group. It was my wedding and I wanted to be happy! LOL

Also, you need to check into what you get for the money. All of our food, drinks, room service, transfers, watersports (motorized and non-motorized), as well as several excursions were included. Sometimes the rooms might be cheaper but you will end up spending the same amount of money.

The bottom line with a DW is those who want to come will come. Those that don't will always have SOME kind of excuse. If it's not the money, it's the timing, the location, the airline, etc.

You hit the nail on the head. This is exactly how I feel. It is your wedding so have it where you and your Fiance want. Those who can make it will be there...but don't give up on what you want to appease everyone else. Just my $0.02. :)

I totally agree with the above posters.

The resort we are staying at is really nice but it's also very much worth it.

And it's where we wanted to have it.

You can't please everyone and it will all work itself out in the end. :)

We were at odds over which resort to go with and in the end chose the hotel with the best wedding package and the best price for everyone.

You will find that no matter how much notice or time you give people so they can save their money and go - there will be those that still don't make it.

I didn;t think about this until now but I spent a lot of time finding a resort that was less expensive. then half of our guests paid $200 to upgrade to a suite. so maybe they never cared about price like we did. well, for the ones who didn't upgrade I think they appreciated the lower cost.

the hotel wasn't 5 star luxury but we all really enjoyed it. it was nicer than places we usually stay, but we tend to travel cheap.

The ROR was a great choice to me. It was beatiful for my liking and it really wasn't that expensive to the guests. No one complained, the only people that complained were the ones who didn't come and that may be why they didn't come, but honestly...even if it was a little cheaper, they still would have had a problem with money. Which leads me to my next point, you have to be somewhat considerate of others, but this is your wedding. If you try to keep pleasing everyone, you will go crazy because everyone will not be pleased. So many people dropped out on us whether it was last minute or not, but all who was there was supposed to be there. And they never complained one bit. Even when their luggage was lost, flights delayed til the next day, and traveled was detoured to Kingston first...so many issues occurred, but once everyone got to the resort and relaxed, all the issues went out the window.

You will see...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
