Carnival Mexican Riveria Cruise & Cabo Wedding!

MalibuBarbie, no, the baby(its a boy!) is not due until Jan,thats why we had to change our plans. She (the babies mom) was thinking she would be ready to leave that month old new baby at home. But, she decided that she would go only if her mom would stay home and keep the baby. Then they got together and decided that it would just be easier if the wedding was here in Galveston two weeks before cruising. So, after an unfortunate accident, baby to bes daddy, shot himself thrut he wrist and then up thru his arm and has already had 5 surgeries and still has a couple more..so I dont think they are going to be able to cruise with us after all!! But, too late now, as plans are already in the works for the Galveston wedding. We had thought about having some pictures made in Cabo, but her dress is REALLY formal, and would be a pain to pack just for pictures ...so I thought maybe just pack her veil and have some cute "almost got married on Cabo" pics!

I am new and just started looking at doing a destination wedidng, and am so happy to see people doing cruises to the Mexican Riviera! I LOVE that part of Mexico. One question though, aside from the guests paying for their cruising/flight and the possible special dinner, are there more many more costs do you think?

Welcome!! wink.gif

Don't forget your guests will need to pay for excursions, average of $50-$75 per person per excursion. Of course they can always do like us. Choose just one or two excursions at our favorite ports and then spend the other ports shopping and looking around.

OMG! That's unbelievable. Thank God he survived. My prayers are with him as he goes through more surgeries! Sorry for the delayed response on this---I have been so swamped at work that I haven't had time to do anything other than grab a shower and go to sleep to get ready for the next day.

We are making a few changes with our wedding---due to the economy, we have postponed it until......april 2011!worried2.gif I was upset at first, but it will be better for everyone and my kids will be on spring break so they will most likely be able to come with us. We have also changed the cruise---it will now be a 10 day Mexican Riveria on Princess instead of a 7 night on Carnival. I am looking forward to the extra days at sea. The biggest change will be that we will be married at sea instead of in port on embarkation day. We are requesting a on-deck wedding but we will not know until right before we sail whether the captain approves it or not. Either way, it will be fine....I am happy that we will not have to stress about the wedding on embarkation day! I will be able to relax for a couple of days and take my time getting ready. Other than that, all is the same, We will still have our pictures done in Cabo.

I do have to call David's. I bought a really formal dress(think poofy dress with chapel train) when we were doing the big wedding locally. I am going to try and see if they will exchange my dress for something a little more appropriate for a cruise wedding. I hope they will but I have my fingers crossed so wish me luck with that!

Talk to you all soon!

Time will fly by. It seems like just yesterday we got engaged but now I am realizing it has been months!! And I will be here to wait with you since our date is only 4 months before yours. wink.gif

Thanks Carla...at least I am in really good company! I know it will go by fast. I was really upset when I realized that we were going to have wait but then I realized that we wanted a luxury-don't have to say no to anything we want-spoil us rotten type honeymoon. And that comes with a price. We have decided to go with Princess instead of Carnival, 10 days instead of 7, a mini suite or a suite instead of a balcony so all of these things have greatly increased the cost of the cruise. Let alone the fact the wedding itself is almost triple! eek.gif I guess I should get comfy, cause it looks like I will have alot of time to spend here! LOL I didn't realize that you had changed your date but I did take a look at your planning

Barbie
Yea we sat down and figured out not only our costs but also how long it would take our families to save. Plus my FI has agreed that I can get braces so that I have a straight smile for our wedding pictures. It will take the next 18 months for that and about $4000! smile41.gif

To keep myself busy I have started planning a TON of DIY projects. wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
