I'm getting married in St. Thomas in December and some help with the bags. Should we do them ourselves or hire someone to do them? If we do them, should we ship everything to the island and assemble them there and then deliver? Our guests are arriving on different days so we don't know exactly when to deliver them.

I see a lot of great ideas on here that everyone's posted.

I think it is nice when you can hand them out yourself because it is less money and a fun surprise for everyone. You can either wait until a day when everyone is there and go door to door or have a get together in a central location and hand them out, or do it as people arrive as a way to say hello and thanks for coming. As far as shipping them and assembling there it depends on the time and money you have, it can get expensive shipping things and you need to have time on the other end to put them together.

There are probably lots of thread on this. Try searching OOT bags.

Our resort didn't accept any shipments and we didn't hire an outside coordinator, so shipping wasn't an option for us. Even if we had, it would have been ridiculously expensive! So, I hauled everything down myself and spent about an hour one morning throwing everything together. I had all of my stuff bulk packed in ziploc bags so it was easy to sort. The prices I found to have them done and delivered started at $35 per bag/basket in Jamaica. I had a lot for stuff and ended up spending $20-ish.

We also hand delivered them to ensure that guests got them. Our resort was rather small, so a 30 minute loop took care of the delivery process.

Before you ship anything talk to your wc at the resort first, mine advised not to ship anything because Punta Cana mail system isn't that great, it's slow and things get lost often. I'm handing my bags out before we leave for Punta Cana. A lot of girls have a welcome reception and hand them out there. You could just have everyone meet at the lobby bar to hand them out. it's really up to you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
