I haven't taken a pic of mine yet, but it's a 5/8 brilliant round in a cathedral setting. I started off wanting a trillion because it's not something you see every day. I still think those are gorgeous!

I think a lot of the Carat comments are made by women who weren't as involved in choosing their E-ring. They probably didn't educate themselves on how to select a stone, so the only thing they have to measure their ring is simply the size.

But I will say that I'm not above the quick retort to people who compare theirs to mine in a negative way. I figure if they have the balls to open theirs mouths, I don't have a problem putting my foot in it. If they comment on the carat size, I'll simply look at theirs and then comment, "Wow, yours is so much bigger, but I guess some people just have to choose between size and a really good quality stone that will appreciate in value over the years." If they comment on the shape, I'll put my ring up to theirs and say, "Well, the round diamond actually is cut so that it reflects more light and has more briliiance and scintilation. See how much more sparkle mine has?"

I'm not above being a b*tch....

OH MY GOODNESS!!! This is SUCH a great response and reaction!!! I love it! And you are totally right....so often, people try to not respond to a$$hole comments but that's why rude people continue to be rude, nobody responds in a way that put them in their place and highlights their rudeness and insensitivity! smile159.gif

Thanks for all the support. I was just hoping that I wasn't the only one who had these bizzare ring instances. I always think of the best come-backs after the fact and it just burns me up because I feel like so many girls are forgetting the ring is a symbol - of love and commitment. Sure they are pretty but what it comes down to is that this man at this moment wants to spend the rest of his life with you. Diamonds are a new trend in engagement rings and realistically their quality is purely ficticious. They are made of the same material as pencil lead and just because society deems them the most desirable is all that made them so. I have decided that the next time someone asks my carats (not a close friend or family member but a catty girl) I will respond 18 - cuz thats my ring - 18 carat white gold. Lol --- oh yeah, I have all the good come backs ready...lol...You guys rock.

I just have to say your ring is beautiful (as I have the same one lol) only mine has five diamonds on each side instead of seven. Is it weird that I don't even know how many carrots mine is. I have only gotten the question once (how many carrots?) and I responded by saying " I never asked. Ron picked it out perfectly for me."

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
