Yes my grocery list overwhelms me. I usually end up spending $250 when I go with my fiancee. When I go by myself I get the necessities and spend $150 on peanut butter and asparagus. Maybe $50 of that on tampons.

Me too! If my FI goes along with me, we end up with stuff we never buy, stuff that will never be eaten at our house or stuff that will end up going bad because we'll forget about it.

As much as I dislike grocery shopping, I prefer going alone. Living in the city, I walk to the grocery store and take a cab home or call him to drive around not even two blocks to come get me with all my bags.

Am I the only one that grocery shops at three or more different stores? I get some things at Trader Joe's. Others at Shaw's. Seafood in Chinatown. All paper and cleaning supplies at BJ's. My FI swears I'm the only one who does that.

We do the same thing - we live in the city - we go to Whole Foods for 85% of the stuff (about 1x per week), then Trader Joe's 1x or 2x per month for more Staples like peanut butter, frozen veggies, etc. and then we get all of our paper and cleaning supplies from Target. Also, every once in a while we go to Wegman's - tell your FI you are definitely not alone LOL

I think it's a woman thing. I love going from store to store, but hubby thinks I'm crazy. Yet his mom, and my mom both do it as well. For me it's all about getting the most for my money. If I can get the same item for a dollar cheaper at another store, I'll go. Every little bit helps, especially with the way prices are rising for everything.

I stress about grocery shopping. We've been eating better so usually I shop for staples twice a month (with my paycheque) then have $20 cash each day to pick up a meal to be made fresh. Most times we don't go near that amount, so we use the leftover to go out once a week and it's still cash. It works for us! That way we are not buying frozen food near as much as we used to. :)

Definately when we are entertaining though I get a little anal. I'm in full blown panic when my parents come to visit!!

Since deciding about the wedding I've been on a tight budget lol If I go I get the basics so that I can eat during the week and take lunch to work.

If FI comes with me he gets his stuff mainly because I don't eat it and I'm trying to force him into looking at what he spends on shite he doesn't need but the bills are getting horrific. I spent £18 today and all I got was milk, a chicken, bread, tomatoes and ham for my lunches I mean ffs

If your company is staying for a week, why don't you just get half of it or what you need for meals & snacks for the first few days and go again next week after you see how it goes. That's what my mother used to do. We had lots of company all the time.
