OUR PROPOSAL STORY

On June 3rd, 2007 Tyson was a trickster...he used my promotion as a decoy and said that he's going to treat me out and celebrate. He was holding something wrapped up and said he had a present for me, which was shaped like a book.

We arrived at this beautiful restaurant downtown, which is on the 38th floor of the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel over looking the lake. There were only a few couples in the restaurant which was a good thing because he wanted it to be intimate.

After we ate, he said it was time for me to open my present. I unwrapped it and it was a nice hard copy of my favourite novel, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It's about a little shepherd boy named Santiago (hehe) who was on a journey to find his "Personal Legend". A personal legend is someone's purpose in life, someone's destiny.

This novel is significant to the both of us because when we were first dating, I gave it to him to read and he loved it.

I thought that it was so sweet of him to get me a nice special edition.

Then he said "that's not all.....you have to read inside and follow the instructions...."

So, I opened it up and on a blank page, he wrote:

"My Dearest Marielle....When you first gave me a copy of this book, it inspired me to realize my dreams and to have the courage to pursue them. When we first met, I knew you were someone special and that I needed to get to know you (see page 43)"

So, I went to page 43 and he highlighted a quote which stated..."When you know you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it."

When I read that quote, I thought that it was fitting for the occasion because this whole time I was under the impression that we were out to celebrate my promotion.

Then he wrote, "Something deep down in my heart told me to be patient and wait for you (see page 59)"

The quote said, "Every blessing ignored becomes a curse."

Then he wrote, "When I fell in love with you, it was like time stood still. ( see page 96)"

The quote said, "......when he looked into her dark eyes....he learned the most important part of the language that all the world spoke - the language that everyone on the earth was capable of understanding in their heart. It was love. Something older than humanity..."

While I was reading this quote...I started tearing and when I looked up at Ty, he was smiling and teary-eyed too.

Then he wrote, "I truly believe that we are meant for each other and it was more than coincidence that brought us together (see page 128 )"

The quote said, "I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you"

On the last page of the book, he wrote, "Mia, you mean so much to me and I love you so deeply. You are my Personal Legend! (see page 99 - Third line from the bottom)"

At this point, Ty told me to read the quote out loud, so I read it out loud "I came to tell you just one thing.....I want you to be my wife. I love you"

Then when I looked up at Ty, he was down on one knee with the ring...I didn't even look at the ring because I was so excited to answer "Yes of course".

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
