children at an adults only resort

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Hoping you can offer some advice. My tentative plan is to be married at the ERC in April 09 and I understand and enjoy the fact that its an adult only resort. However, I have a 3 yr old niece that will need to travel with my sister and BIL. My TA will make arrangements for them to stay in the nearby Paradisus. I've been researching this issue on the boards and from what I've come across, my niece will only be permitted on the beach, not the resort. I'm willing to have the dinner on the beach but I've read you must have 50 guests to do that. I'll only have about ten. Is that true? Also, heaven forbid, bad weather, then what? Will she really be banned from entering the resort? Any thoughts, advice, suggestions, etc will be greatly appreciated. Erika

We ended up passing on a resort in Jamaica that we LOVED because it was adults only and we will be having a 10 year old attend. We decided it was too much to risk the resort not allowing him to attend the wedding. We figured we can always visit the resort in Jamaica on a future vacation, but that we needed to find a resort that, to the best of our ability, met the needs of our guests.

I was afraid someone was going to say that. I'd hate to go back to the drawing board. I am just so picky and this seemed to be one of the few resorts that everyone loves, on trip advisor, on this site, etc. Do hotels/resorts (specifically Paradisus) offer babysitting services where the parents can leave the resort? I'm trying to think of every option before dismissing ERC as an option. Thanx again. All input is appreciated.

That's a good thought! I know that the Dreams Resort we're getting married at offers some level of babysitting services. I would definitely check on that option before you change your plans.

Our youngster is my fiance's youngest brother, so it wasn't an option for us to have him miss the wedding.

  • 1 year later...

Yeah I am in exactly the same mess - big vent coming up...

I have an 8 year old cousin who was going to make the trip, so family vacation hotels for the week... I fell in love with the Maroma beach area, so I figure hey we can stay at Dreams Riviera Cancun and have the ceremony and our honeymoon at Secrets Maroma, with the dinner back at DRC as I too was worried about what if weather doesnt cooperate and then what..

So I chug along speaking to Cecilia about prices for the ceremony and I mean down to the white chiavary chairs and the microphone and speakers for the ceremony and then she sends me the contract and has a 'Surprise!' a USD 150 per person walk on fee!!! We are inviting some 50 family and then 50 friends, so if 60 people show up that is USD 7,500 just so that we can use their beach for what an hour!! We were already paying site/minister fee, cocktail hour fee, chair fee, etc. etc.

Have any of you come across this? and the ridiculous thing is I have been talking to Cecilia for 2 months and they only mention it now!!!!

Have any of you girls come up with a solution to this sort of thing?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
