I had mine at 3, it was perfect because it had started to cool off a little bit and the beach was a lot emptier.

I was going to pick 5 - but it's hard for photos (unless you're having an outside photographer)

Here is a link to some photos from a 5pm wedding...their comment was "we were married jan 24 2007 everything was great The only thing is we got married at 5pm and some are photos were dark and you cant see the ocean. "

Hi Ladies,

As for timing, it obviously depends on the time of year you are getting married, so I'd look at the sunset calendar for your wedding day.

On my wedding day, the sun is supposed to set at about 5.20, so we're going for a 4 O clock wedding.

But guys, I need your help! I was so excited, i thought I had everything set, and then last night she told me that the restaurant we were using for our reception was only going to have a roped off area for our reception, rather than being completely private... that sucks! And we have 80 people, so it' snot because we're a small group.

Melissa, where was your reception, cos I know yours was completely private. Was it open air to the beautiful beach, or inside?

Do you know of anyone that did the under the stars and had the private reception on the beach? I could do that but was concerned that it could be windy or sandy on the beach all night...

What do you guys thinK I"m so disappointed, the buffet restaurant that is open air was the perfect location!!! But I really want it to be a private reception...

We had our reception in a banquet hall - it was inside, all we had were a few windows to look outside.

I've never found the beach to be very windy, even at night.

If you check out the unofficial barcelo maya site (UNOFFICIAL BARCELO MAYA | Your unofficial guide to Beach | Caribe | Tropical | Colonial | Palace) you might find someone who's done the under the stars package.

When we were there we saw 2 other receptions - one was like you said, a blocked off area in a restaurant but it was later at night (I dont think the reception started until about 8pm so most of the restaurants were empty by then) but another one was by a pool and they cleared everyone away...that one was really nice!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
