Barcelo Maya

Hi Past & Future Barcelo Brides!! My fiance and I are getting married at the Palace on January 8, 2010. We put the date on hold with Claudia. A few days ago we called the hotel directly to make a reservation for our week stay. It was a little pricey...$3,400...but it includes everything as you all know, and we got an oceanview suite! Does this price sound accurate? They didn't require a deposit which we found odd. I mean, we are having our wedding there...wouldn't they want that guaranteed? We then proceeded to email Claudia with our confirmation number. She hasn't responded yet. So, there's no deposit for our reservation (which we were told we could cancel up to 48 hrs prior), yet our wedding will be on hold? This all sounds strange. What was the process with everyone else? How were payments made? Upon arrival? Any feedback/advice would be great!! Thanks :)

Hi Sandra&Mario,

I just got a quote from my TA for February 2010 and for a weeks stay I am being quoted about $1700. But I think that may be with a group rate since we are expecting a number of guests. I think that pricing you have is little high. On the website, regular pricing is about $400/night.

Hope that helps.

Hey! We've been quoted around $1700 to $1800 for a week at the Palace with a group rate. And that's not including tax. I'm sad though because my FI and I REALLY REALLY want the Barcelo Palace, but our guests would never pay $1800.... should we just try to get people to stay at the Colonial or other resorts? I feel bad doing this. sad.gif

Cara,

Thanks! Wow. $1,700 for the Palace! Even without taxes it sounds like a great price! How did you find out about a "group rate"? Did you use a travel agent? I'm so confused. Even penny counts and I don't want to be ripped off! You shouldn't feel bad that you're staying at the Palace and others may not be able to afford it. If they stay at Colonial for example they will still be close enough to you guys! The only thing I'd say would be where you all would be gathering for dinner and such. But other than that, it's the same beachy sand! And hey, it's YOUR WEDDING! You should stay at the best one, haha.

If you used a travel agent, do you mind sharing their info? Or, if you contacted someone at Barcelo, who did you speak to?

Thanks so much!

Sandra

For brides who have already been married at the Barcelo.

I am planning a wedding for May 2010 and I'm trying to get as many ideas together as I can. Do the wedding coordinators send you pictures of your options for the cake, flowers, decorations, etc or are we supposed to just send them pictures of what we want? How limited are they with the choices?

Thanks for your help!

I am getting married on July 10th at the Barcelo. Does anyone have any information on activities? We are having about 25 guest and some of the guys are going golfing - any good golf courses around? Has anyone used their Salon or Spa Services?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
