For those of yo interested in the Barcelo property I woul dbe happy to do some 1st hand research for you. My fiance and I are going to be staying at the Barcelo Colonial Beach April 19th-26th. We are not getting married there (we are getting married in Los Cabos at Dreams 10/20/0cool.gif but rather just vacationing. If you want answers to what certain areas look like for wedding plans or info on restaurants please post your questions and I will try to search out answers as I am there relaxing:)

Have or are any of you having your reception outside in one of their open air restaurants/locations? When Ana took me on a tour of the property she only showed us their ceremony sites and open air reception sites. It seems that all of the receptions I've heard about have been in a banquet room, which I prefer not to have.

Any tidbit of information would be appreciated!

Thanks!!!
I was thinking about having a reception in Capitan Grill i think it's called. It's an open air buffet restaurant that is open for lunch but closed for dinner.
It's easier to dance on the floor then on the sand. (we're big on dancing) Then i changed my mind and now i'm putting a dance floor right on the beach (it costs extra). But i know a lot of girls that had their reception in it.. I'm totally with you on not having a reception in one of their banquet rooms. I think one of the girls on here- Margaret, had her reception in one of the open air restaurants.

Yes, I had my reception in one of the open air restaurants. There are lots of them, they are all Something Grill, and they are all open for lunch but not dinner. As a result, you can have your reception in the grill starting at 6.30 (but not earlier because they have to clean up from the daytime).

It was beautiful, they decorated it very nicely, with candles in bags all around the edge, and the centerpieces. I was planning on having it on the beach also, but then we decided that it would be nice to get away from the sand and potentially wind or elements. It was perfect, it was really windy but it was fine in the open air restaurant. I loved it. :) Just tell Ana that's what you want. I had never been to the Barcelo before my wedding, but I just knew that I didnt want it in a banquet hall, and it worked out brilliantly. :)

I picked the sea breeze package, but i told Lia ( my wedding coordinator there) that i wanted the reception in a grill, and she told me that i would have to switch to the under the stars package, which is a bit more $$$ , so now I am unsure what i will do. I really want it in the grill but I am just not sure if we can spend more with our budget! sad.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

I am currently awaiting my travel agent to write me back with my group package price for these hotels. I'm so excited.

One question though: I heard that they don't allow outside photographers on site. What about if I brought my photographer from Canada down with me? She is giving me a great deal, I pay for her stay, she gives me free pictures.

if you book her as a guest, that should be no problem.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
