Getting married on your birthday...

... that has been our plan thus far... to get married on my birthday. One relation of mine thinks it's an absolutley terrible idea!

I've already warned Matt that it won't mean him getting off lightly (in regard to anniversay/birthday gifts) And that he'll have to double up! LOL

But now I'm wondering about the date... (hell, along with wondering about everything else!)

Thoughts?

I got engaged on my b-day... but I wish it had been some other random day. Don't get me wrong, it was wonderful and special and a night I'll always remember, but I wish it wasn't attached to my b-day. I can't really explain why.

I think if you are ok with it, then go for it. But I don't think I'd personally want my anniversary to be the same as my b-day. We tried to plan our date for a time that wouldn't get blended with either of our b-days or major holidays.

i agree - if you're ok w/ it, go ahead! we did the same as jenn. didn't want it to be too close to our bdays which are in nov. i don't even like that my bday is a month away from christmas and hanukkah b/c i don't get presents the rest of the year! (i'm a greedy little beotch)

My FI and I were actually sad that we can't be married on his 30th birthday! (the day before our wedding) - we thought it would be fun. Plus it is the time of year that we always travel south... thought it could make for very memorable birthdays/anniversaries.

IMO - It is what you make of it!

I, personally, would not do it.

But that is just me.

In one week, we have FI's bday, my Bday, our anniversary, AND Valentine's day. SO if we added one more thing, my head would explode. LOL.

Just make sure you both agree to it and then ti's all good.

My FIs parents were married on FILs b-day. They love it & FIL always remembers!! When FI suggested that we keep the tradition alive I ki-boshed that idea but it all depends on you. Don't worry about what everyone else thinks. If thats what you want then I say go for it!

We did our religious ceremony in May in Mexico and our civil ceremony back home in June on my hubby's birthday. It is nice for us since we will celebrate May 10 as our anniversary but when we are celebrating DH birthday we will also be celebrating something else. :)

He could seriously care less about the particular date - he's one of those... "it's all about me!" wink.gif

His b/day is right around Christmas (which I think, kindof sucks) and so I'm going to really need to rethink the wedding date. Thank God deposits haven't been put down yet. There's one plus in this cloudy mess of late!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
