Alternative to 'Who Gives this Woman in Marriage'?

    I had my father repeat a saying I heard Sally Field say in response to the "Who gives this woman" question on the tv show, "Brothers & Sisters".

    He said, "She gives herself freely, with my love and my blessing."

    I think this could be tailored to fit a brother or mother or anyone else who chooses to respond on behalf of the bride!

        I love it! What a great compromise. I was glad to see this post because it applies to me as well, and I think everyone will be happy with that answer.

            my mom walked me & I just hugged her. She sat down & I stood next to mike.
