BOOKED!! Carnival Valor Feb. 2010

~St.T Bride~

Recommended Posts

I'm so excited to finally be booked for our cruise in Feb 2010, on the Carnival Valor. After reading some not very nice reviews about the wedding co-ordinators on the ship, we have decided to book independently and have settled on booking in St. Thomas. We are still unsure whether we are going to use Paradise Bridal, or Island Bliss, but we'll let you know!

I would love feedback from people about:

Carnival Valor

Paradise Bridal

Island Bliss Weddings

Yay!!!

Congrats! My friends were married in St. Thomas at the Frenchman's Reef Marriott and it was gorgeous! We came in on Carnival Triumph. She was able to get her hair done and have an air conditioned room to get ready in that was rather large and well set up. The gazebo and backdrop are amazing. Her video and photos were super high quality. She did a champagne toast and cake afterwards - all excellent. The only thing I will say is it was so extremely hot in St. Thomas in October...we were all drenched with sweat by the end of the ceremony. There was no breeze for relief. I'm not sure if this link will work to the ceremony location:

The beach area was also gorgeous and perfect for pictures!

We are booked on the Carnival Valor for Nov 2,2008 and are getting married on Novemeber 5 in St. Thomas.

We have booked with Janelle from Island Bliss Wedding & so far she is fantastic.

She has sent me some links to pics as well as package pricing for 2 photographers she recommends (Paradise Pictures & Blue Glass Photography). PM me if you want more info.

I'll be sure to post some pics & a review when we get back!

That is so exciting!! Congrats to you.

I would love hear ALL about your experience, good and bad, with both Carnival and Janelle. I ended up booking with Paradise Bridal, because being an indecisive person I really liked having a package option where what you see is what you get. But, that being said nothing is better than speaking directly to someone who going to have a very similar wedding to you!

How many guests do you have going and where will you be getting married?

Yeah! I'm so excited there is someone who is doing almost the exact same thing!!

I have been on the Carnival Freedom, which is also in the Conquest Class. I loved the ship and I loved the supper club but I was not thrilled about the food in the main dining room and the breakfast buffet. I was on the Legend the year before and the food in the dining room and buffet area were great. I think the freedom is just a little too big and you get rushed catering hall type food. I actually wrote Carnival a nasty letter after I got back from my cruise on the Freedom. PM me if you'd like. I can give you specific examples if you are interested. My fiance has been on 7 cruises and I have been on 3. We go all the time.

I agree with this one. My cruise was on the Inspiration and I love the smaller more intimate settings too. The food was amazing!!

So sad...

Just heard from our travel agent tonight that Carnival has cancelled my cruise dates and the Valor is now only sailing to the Western Carribean (not sure when that starts, only know it affects me!)

I'm so frustrated! I initially sent out an email to my near and dear's announcing the cruise (as a pre-save the date) and had to resend an email after Carnival decided that anyone who didn't deposit 3 days after we got the inital quote the fuel supplement would be increasing. It just makes me look unorganized.

We actually had 24 people with deposits for this cruise, a deposit placed on a wedding co-ordinator in St. Thomas and now everything is falling apart!

I'm afraid that people will think we are ultra-unorganized and may just decide it's too chaotic and not come. I know that it is still far away (2010) but it just looks bad. To think I was looking into formal STD today and yesterday.

My TA is going to try to find a similar cruising date that sails to St. Thomas so we don't lose our deposit, but I'm afraid if it's alot more expensive some of the people that have placed deposits won't come.

I know that the cruise companies CAN do this, I just don't understand why they would advertise IN PRINT certain dates and then just go ahead and change them. I'm pissed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
