Is that tacky?
I want to do some kind of welcome event on Thursday (our wedding is on a Friday) as all our guests should be there by Thursday evening. I just haven't decided if we will have everyone meet at one of the bars, or if we are going to plan a group dinner. We would have to make the reservation with the wedding coordinator prior to getting to Mexico and have an exact count. If it is a group of more than 25 people we need to have a set menu, but as far as I know we don't get charged extra. I think going the drinks route might be an easier thing to plan, and people can come and go as they please rather than a structured dinner. Plus, for those that get their on Thursday they may be tired and might not want to be bothered.

Our WC at the resort secured a reservation at one of the a la carte restaurants for our group (40) for a non-formal rehearsal dinner. I had to pick the menu ahead of time since it was a large group but there was no extra charge. This is the way to go IMHO b/c there is really NO reason to spend MORE money at an AI for a privatized rehearsal dinner. We all had a GREAT time and then went drinking and dancing afterwards.

I think it's nice having a welcome dinner getting everyone together a night or 2 before the wedding. At some all inclusive hotels, they'll allow you a free dinner if you book a certain amount of rooms through them. This way you'll have a dinner, but it's all included and not a seperate fee for you to pay.

We are going to see if they can reserve a section in one of the buffets for us to have a group dinner the first whole day we are there so everyone can be introduced if they haven't already, and we can let them know the plans for the wedding day! If they are going to try to charge us a fee for it, than we will just make sure we are there for when they open the buffet for supper and go get our tables together!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
