Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I can't tell you how glad I am to have found this forum. We're in the earliest stages of planning a wedding for November 2018 and decided almost immediately after attending our first destination wedding in June of 2016 that it was definitely what we wanted. I was interested in Punta Cana and Mexico for ease/cost of travel and landed on Karisma resorts after hearing wonderful things about the food. My TA also let me know that in her experience, she's yet to find an AI resort in the DR that impressed her when it came to food. Any thoughts on that? Food would have been my only complaint about our June 2016 experience at PlayaCar-- we weren't dazzled by the food, and we've got some big-time foodies in our group.

Speaking of which, we're very fortunate/unfortunate to have a massive group of loving and fun-loving friends and family that love to travel. We're expecting 100+ at our wedding, although I certainly realize that we may be overestimating how much people like us (ha.) and would be willing to spend to come celebrate with us. I've currently got my eye on the SkyDeck for the ceremony and Zavas for the reception. Of course, if our numbers spill over 100, we're pretty much limited to Zocalo Gazebo for the ceremony and Beach Building #3 for the reception. Not that these places don't look great-- it looks like some of you have done spectacular things with those venues so I won't be devastated if we have too many to use the SkyDeck/Zavas. Anyone else planned a large destination wedding at Sensatori?

My original choice was Azul Beach Riviera Maya, but that was quickly eliminated when our guest list came together (I was told they don't have a venue that accommodates over 65, which seems crazy since the beach is such a wide-open space with ample room for chairs, but, I digress). I'm now aiming for Sensatori, unless we have an overwhelming amount of interest, and then I suppose we may have to think about relocating to Fives where the SkyDeck holds 200.

Anyone have experience they'd be willing to share about a time-frame? I want to give my guests, and my fiancé and I, as much time as possible to save so that's why we've already begun planning. The TA we're working through is DestinationWeddings.com (again, I'd love any reviews on them as well). Does everyone generally do a group contract?

Also, as we may postpone our honeymoon to 2019, does anyone have any idea what the Always and Forever package costs if you don't qualify for it free and what the stipulations are to do so? Thanks and sorry in advance. I'll be here a lot in the next 18 months.

Hello ladies!

The WC that I was working with left the company and now working with another WC named Marco. Does anyone else have him as your coordinator and does he take weeks to respond to your emails? I never had this issue with my initial WC Paula. She was wonderful, easy to work with, and communicated very well with me.

PS thank you to all of the past brides for your amazing ideas from your weddings! Y'all have been a great deal of help and a breath of fresh air to know that I'm not alone with trying to plan a destination wedding!

I have also been switched from Paula to Marco and yes he does take forever to respond. I just continue to email him my questions and decisions and he inputs them all at once =p I hope he'll pick up the pace soon since I'm not submitting my final payment until it's all straight =P

I also got switched to Marco about a month or so and he started out responding within 24hrs and then started taking a while. They were having phone issues for a while. Noe that it's fixed I send emails and then call a few hours or the next day and he usually answers and we just go over the email. My wedding is less than a week away and so far so good. I haven't made any payments yet because I was waiting for the wedding builder to be updated correctly

That is awesome that we will be there the same time! At least being connected on here maybe we can handle any issues we have. I spoke to Javier last week and I think we have cleared things up but very frustrating to say the least. He said someone in their office was in tinge hospital and it has caused a back log of work. We are going to use al Fresco for the reception and a bonus is we wouldn't need additional lighting. I think our decorations would be minimal. I have seen that people find it difficult to get a quote on set up fees as well. I've just been putting things in my wedding builder that I know we want so I can plan to save and not worry about traveling with much. What time is your ceremony on the 12th? We arrive on the 8th and ceremony is at 4pm Friday.

Hi! Very interesting about al Fresco. When we spoke he explained it as our area would be the full outside patio of the restaurant that the public wouldn't have access to. I figured that would be better than getting pushed to the ballroom too with no decorations. I guess we will see how the next few months go but I'm just going with the flow now so I don't stress myself out over things I can't control. :)

Our ceremony is at 4 on the 12th and reception at 6 at Zavas. We got some quotes back for the decorations and they were a bit outrageous. So we are going to bring minimal decorations and pay the set up fee.

Just got back from my wedding and honeymoon and I can honestly say I had the smoothest wedding day at Azul. And I honestly can say I don't have anything negative to say about my experience. I got everything I asked for and they decorated the Ballroom (which honestly isn't all that bad like others had mentioned before) exactly how I wanted. I even payed extra to extend my reception an hour because everyone was having such an amazing time

Congratulations! So glad you had such a special day!

Just out of curiosity, what did they charge you to extend your reception?

. Honestly I'm not 100% sure of the exact cost but I think it was about 1k. My sister paid for it for me since we were having such a good time

Hi ladies

I fly from the UK to marry at sensatori on July 26th, my wedding planner is Claudy, I have asked to bring my own sheers over for the gazebo

And for plaza zavos as I think 100 for each sheer is very expensive but the set up fee I have been quoted is $2000, is this correct as the sheers themselves if ordered through the wedding planner are $1000 ????????

. How many guests will you be having? I'm not sure if that is correct or not. Do you have other things that need to be set up? They take into account a few things for the set up I assume. My set up fee for the entire wedding was no where near that and I ha 114 guests

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
