Thanks so much.  I did book zavaz for the reception, but haven't decided on the ceremony site (have no clue what the difference between the 3 are)....I know you got married at the one by the pier...any particular reason you chose that over the other 2?

:)

Mel

I just loved the view of the pier gazebo, plus the really nice wooden walkway to make my appearence. ( I will email you the map shortly...likely by tomorrow)

Anyway the 3 beach locations: 1) the gazebo by the pier; 2) the yoga gazebo, which is nice if you have a really large wedding party since they would all fit under the gazebo, or if your whole wedding is small, since everyone could fit; 2) another small gazebo, closer to the premium section.

P4050221.JPGThis is the gazebo close to the premium section. It's a little smaller than the one by the pier, and has wood across the top.

PA180050.JPGPA180051.JPGThese two photos are of the yoga gazebo. They can place chairs on the platform or on the sand around. There is a stone ramp about 20 yards away.

PA180054.JPGThe gazebo by the pier. The large wooden ramp is just behind and to the left. (I could swear I had a picture somewhere ....if I find it I will post it later)

Is anyone planning on doing Maracas?  I have been searching on this site, but seems like the Canadian brides have been having trouble finding any.

Fellow Canadians?  (or others that know of a great place that will ship to Canada?)

:)

You don't see the sunset much cause you are in Mexico. I highly recommend you getting married around 3-4pm-ish if you are planning to take some pictures with daylight. Also because it's October.. there are tons of mosquitoes at night...we had a very breeze night so mosquitoes eventually went away but it was very painful for first hour into the reception on the beach. Depends on how long you want to take the pictures (before or after) will determine when you need to have the ceremony. I thought 530pm was little too late... though this was perfect for us since we took pictures before the wedding and we had less bystanders watching our wedding.

Here are some pictures from my wedding. By the time we were done with family/friends pictures... the sun was GONE! You can see that there was a great sunlight during our ceremony and by the time we were done with the pictures (my sister and I).. the sun was gone!

I know alot of girls had a hard time finding them (especially to get them to Canada). I was more worried about how to get all the stuff down to Mexico. You could buy them at the Cancun market, but it will be unlikely that they would all match. Maybe a seller on Etsy???

Hey girls... there are quite a few newbies now, so figured I'd mention this again.  Talis and I joined Karisma's Exotic Travelers Club so we could get the best rooms and rates for all of our guests.  We have a lot of traveler "weeks" left over if anyone needs any help with guests that waited to long for your room block (or maybe for your honeymoon at a different Karisma resort).  Depending on the weekend and room rate, its 25-40% off.  Anyways, I can pass the discount to any of my "friends/family".   All of our guests used our membership and they got treated just as well as we did!  Theres no way Talis and I could use all of these on our own, so figured some of you girls might need the extra discount :).  Through my year of planning I developed an awesome relationship with my Karisma concierge, so if I can help out just PM the room type and number of nights...he usually gives me a quote within 24 hours.

Happy Planning!  Jaime

Oh btw...theres no "catch" or anything like that.  You dont have to sit through a presentation.  Nobody ever bugged any of our guests about joining.  All I would do is add on the little bit to cover my membership charge for those days...but the discount would still be more than you can find elsewhere.  So it would be helping you, and I wouldnt completely lose out on all my leftover weeks.  Just wanted to clarify so it didnt sound too good to be true :).

On the other hand, if any one is interested in joining Exotic, I can set you up for 50% off through friends-in-paradise...but you would have to sit through a 90 minute presentation, so I wouldnt recommend it unless you are really interested in joining.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
