Old bride lurking here!  We got married at AB on 4/27/2010 and then went to the El Dorado Royale for our honeymoon.  We stayed for 6 nights in the casitas with our own pool, which is the second highest room class (other than the Presidential Suite) and it was not that expensive. I think it was about $4700 for both of us (we paid for AB and EDR all together, so I cannot remember the exact breakdown).  $3300/person seems high - especially since it's the same week that we were there last year - I would honestly just go on the EDR's website and see what the costs would be and then go to your TA and see if they can match it (assuming it's lower).

Ok, still attempting to catch up! Gonna try this again rolleyes.gif I know there are some things that I clicked to multi quote but they didn't all copy over. So, if I missed anything....sorry.

I did want to comment on someone's complaint about their WC (sorry can't remember who it was). I feel your pain. I asked for something as simple as a link to the website for the live webcam feed that comes with the Sky Wedding about a month ago and I still don't have it. She sent me a link that did not work. I was about to include it on my invites but something told me to check it out 1st and I'm glad I did!! Emailed her back and she seemed surprised it wasn't functional but I haven't heard from her since. Plus, I emailed Fabio in hopes that he could clear some things up for me since Carolina is so "busy" but it's been 2 weeks without a response from him either. Too bad one of you ladies mentioned that he emailed you back last week so I'm just going to go out on a limb and say that they're choosy! My wedding is 2 months away and final payment is due in 2 weeks. Do you think someone would want to respond to me?! So, to answer your question,  maybe you can get a better response by calling, but I'm thinking that it doesn't matter how far away your wedding is. If it weren't for BDW, I'd be pulling my hair out right now. I've just decided to try my luck with the on-site coordinators and see what happens.

Just an FYI, I was also scared about walking on the wooden plank so I asked them to remove it. I know this may not work for those getting married on the sand, but I just thought I'd let others know it is possible to have the white runner alone.

Talking about the labor day weekend.. I thought Meredith is coming to Houston for her BD pictures. Where you at Meredith?

I know I'm late but I hope you're having lots of fun. I had to cancel my shoot due to my fiance's father's death but I may try to reschedule for some time in October. I'll keep you posted.

I hope you get all of that figured out but I too feel that is really steep! If you spend that much money you can just go to Zoetry or Banyan Tree Mayokoba! That quote had to have gotten lost in translation somewhere.

Very nice! I like them and I'm glad you are "in love with them"!!! That's always a plus when your efforts pay off like that.

I can commiserate with you. I say DO NOT let them get away with that. Think of all the people they have done that to and gotten away with it. I think this is absurd that a company as large as theirs will try to find loopholes to cheat people out of money. They know that $50 will not make them or break them but that may be a different story for your guests that were banking on that. Ugh! Where has customer service gone?!

Forgot one other thing....

Chong, I liked the idea of the flying lanterns when I first saw them in the beginning stages of my planning. I didn't quite know how to tie it in though. Now that my fiance's father has passed away I'm thinking it may be nice to send one up in memory of him. It seems you have more luck with getting your questions answered so, if you find out about whether they're allowed or not, please let me know. Thanks!!

Hey girls...I'm back from my visit to AS!!  I'll post some more info and pics later, I just wanted to chime in on the sand/heels issue.  I am thrilled to confirm wearing heels for the beach ceremony is extremely doable!!  One of the days I was there, they had the wooden plank set up, but no wedding...so I spent a good 30 minutes "practicing" in my 3" heels :).  My wedding heels are actually 4", but that additional inch shouldnt make a difference.  As long as you are comfortable walking in heels and can stay either perfectly balanced or put a little more impact on your toes, you will be completely fine.

The only problem I found was walking down the ramp.  I spend 11 hours a day in 3+ inch heels, but could not master the ramp!  That is the first moment all of the guests will see you (and you dont want to look uncomfortable or scared), so I've decided to walk down the ramp barefoot, and do something cute to slip them on.  I think all of my family and friends will find it humorous that I can't even do a beach wedding without my heels...so should be fun!

Also, the wooden plank is fine for heels (even better than the packed sand).  I took an up close picture of the plank against my foot, so you can see how small the cracks are (ill post it tonight).  They are very tiny, so you would have to have very very thin heels for them to slip through.

Lastly, one of the nights FI and I took a nice long walk on the beach and I kept the heels on just to see how far I could push it.  Again, not a problem...even after a few drinks :).  I really dont know about dancing though.  I think you could get away with a beach reception without a dance floor, but you'd want to slip off any shoes before any actual dancing.

I've been MIA so please bear with me while I catch up. Unfortunately, my future father in law passed away unexpectedly last week and I have been tending to family stuff. We have also been back and forth on the road from Georgia so I'm just able to check in. For a minute I was expecting to have to postpone our wedding and/or change plans all together since it was such a shock, but FI is on board with continuing with our plans as is. So,  forgive me if I beat a dead horse and comment on things that have been resolved, etc.

Yay Jaime, I can't wait to hear all about your trip!  Thanks for the info on heels.  I definitely want to wear heels too!

Ok, I've put a lot of my photos (with descriptions) in an album.  I'm not sure if I am linking it correctly, so let me know if you can't get to it.

http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/gallery/album/view/id/8370/user_id/30664

All of these pictures were taken between 5-6pm to give you an idea of lighting and crowds.  I noticed the album keeps the photos small, so if there's any you'd like enlarged, let me know the title and I'll post or email it.

I have lots more, just wanted to focus on the beach for now since thats been the main topic recently.  If anyone else is interested to see anything else, just let me know.  I think we've officially photographed the whole resort :)

And the food tasting went great!  We were able to try 4 different dishes from the private event menu (1 Chicken, 1 Steak, 1 Lamb, & 1 Surf/Turf).  I'm not sure if they let us chose 4 because there was 4 of us, or if it was because we are having 2 private events.  The coordinating in advance definitely made me nervous, but the actual tasting was well organized and the food was amazing!  After tasting those dishes, I'm 100% comfortable picking anything off the menu.

In my opinion it was all better tasting and better portion sizes than anything at the restaurants.  This made me feel much better about paying the extra $ for a private event at an all-inclusive resort.

Hey girls,

I have a room question.  If you stay in the premium suite, what exactly does that get you, aside from the "free" wedding, which really isn't much more than the pearl package?  I am wondering if it's worth booking that suite b/c I don't think your guests can come into that section if they're not booked in premium.  So, I was wondering if I should just go with a regular room, and then use my webinar upgrade to get into the standard swim up.  Any suggestions?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
