The pearl package also does not include the sand ceremony, do you girls know if we can bring our own sand etc to do the sand ceremony to save whatever cost the resort wants for this? Hey Sammyhawk, I too have to pearl package,AND im doing that same private ceremony this weekend actually and I added the sand ceremony, I believe $45? Id have to double check my invoice. I just got my sand from hobby lobby for 1.25, but they also have sand at the dollar store! Hope this helps :)

Reneeâ€s to doâ€s:

1. Get brochures printed not done

2. Make luggage tags for guests I made the inserts, I just need to buy the plastic holders

3. Mail off brochures & luggage tags not done

4. Keep working out! DONE!! I have worked out daily--stupid insanity is kicking my butt, but I think it's working

5. Find the bridesmaid's dress in a large!! *sigh* 19 Ross stores and no large....at this point, either she can squeeze into a medium, or I bought an extra medium and a small--maybe a seamstress can make it work?!

6. Sit down with FI and start making decisions (food, decorations, etc.) not done

My New To-Do List!

1. get brochures printed!

2. mail off brochures and luggage tags

3. KEEP WORKING OUT!

5. Finalize all wedding decisions with FI (I'll wear something sexy and bribe him to sit down for 30 minutes, lol)

6. Submit invoice to Tiffany for wedding decisions

7. Start buying things for OOT Bags (ooh, I found cute bags that I bought at the Dollar Tree!)

8. Order personalized mugs

9. Order raffia fans

Thanks! I am still trying to figure out a photographer, what do you girls suggest? I thought about doing the cheapest package the resort offers for the actual ceremony and then using a photographer in the area to do pictures before the wedding. What are your thoughts? If I were to do that, are there photographers you would recommend?

soon to be Mrs. Frommert, I thought I had replied to your post, but I don't see it on here. Congrats on the upcoming wedding this weekend, how exciting! You will definitely have to let me know how it goes and how your reception is. I am shocked that the resort still charges for the sand ceremony when you are bringing your own supplies, just another way to rack up the bill. What are you doing for music?

I paid $45 for a sand ceremony. They also provided the sand, I just picked the colours.
Something else to consider - if you're having a private reception you have to arrange for music, which means you have to rent their equipment I believe. I'm only mentioning it so that you can budget for that if that's what you want to do.

I used Moments that Matter (MTM). THey are actually forum members and I highly recommend them. They are a Canadian couple that moved to Playa del Carmen last year. They honestly saved my wedding day from what could have been disasterous. Here's their website MEXICO Destination Wedding Photography, Wedding Photojournalism throughout the Mayan Riviera
You can see some of my pics under galleries - Nicole & Curt.

I would check with Tiffany to see what the "current" outside photographer policy is. To use an outside photographer, you have to pay $500 fee or have them stay for 3 nights. I recently booked (yes, I am getting married in less than 3 months! :) ) at the Azul Beach and was told that I could not use anyone that was Mexican-based that was not the "approved" photographers. We could, however, bring in someone from the United States. I am still baffled by this policy - I get the extra fee since they have relationships with certain companies, but I would think they would prefer for us to spend our money locally. We are flying someone in from Ohio - it's a little pricey, but something we decided to do.

Hope that helps!

Shoot! I have a note in my Blackberry to check out some Ross' for you just totally forgot... I'm going to see if I can do that this week for you. There have got to be a ton of them in LA.

LOL!! I haven't even tried this tactic out yet, let me know how the hot outfit bribe goes. wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
