hi meghan,

we sent our STD out last october and invites out feb 15th for our may 17th wedding. i designed our invites myself (i own a design studio) and got them printed with an amazing letterpress printer. they came out so unbelievable that i added wedding invites to my repertoire. if you like letterpress and want something custom let me know and we can chat.

I'm getting married May 2010 and sending out my STD's May 1st so they arrive exactly one year from our wedding Date. I have a RSVP request on the save the date to RSVP by October 1st 2009 in order to receive a formal invitation which I will send out 6 months prior (November 2009) to the guests.

I have a wedding website where everyone will RSVP and I have gotten everyone's email addresses so I can email personally those who haven't responded and nudge them to respond in a timely manner. This way I have a bit of a grasp on who's coming, besides I speak to all of them from time to time.

We decided Azul is where we want our destination wedding...but after reading so many posts, it seems Fabio & the other wedding coordinators are difficult to get a hold of and aren't really on top of things, is that pretty much correct? I called & emailed Fabio a few times last week to see if we could get some price quotes and see if they have Jan 2nd 2010 open for our wedding date and have yet to hear anything from him. Should I just be patient? Can anyone tell me how they went about reserving their wedding date and how they got price quotes? Is there a specific travel agency we have to work with?

Any info you can provide is much appreciated! We're in the very early stages of planning and I want to make sure Azul Sensatori is the right place for us! Thanks so much!
Melissa,

I am a newbie too - just joined today! I contacted a travel agent early on and she was the one who actually suggested Azul. She was amazing at getting things rolling (quoting rates, getting my guest's deposits, etc.) So far, she has done absolutely EVERYTHING for me as far as contact with the resort. I have an October 2009 wedding and I am just getting in touch with a coordinator this week. Now that I read all this, I am a little apprehensive about talking to one since my travel agent has done so well getting in touch with them on her own. I would highly recommend doing it that way if you have a lot of guests - so far, we're at around 60. Hope this helps!

I just found this forum and I have so many questions - any help is greatly appreciated! We are mainly debating on what kind of reception to do - the cocktail reception or dinner reception. I feel like they are double dipping having us pay for a sit down dinner when the food is all inclusive. Is it worth it? And if you do a standing cocktail, do all your guests really have to stand? Do you have to pay the $16 surcharge per table? We are also trying to get a rate on a site visit for this summer. Did they give anyone a discounted rate for a site visit? Can't wait to hear back from those who went in the last couple of weeks!

Hi

Can anyone help confirm the Spa options? I have the 24 page downloaded, however do these prices seem really high? or is it just me?

Also can anyone please clarify this statement under the wedding section " 30% additional charge with a mininum 2 hour package" Does that seriously mean that if I get a manicure, pedicure and my hair done (which will take at least 2 hours) I have to pay an extra 30% as well a 10% service charge!?!?!?!

Is anyone else choosing any bridal package, if so do they offer any discounts for bringing in other people, like 3 bridesmaids updo and yours is free or something?

If there even is a price quote for an updo!?!

Thanks Ladies!

I have a cluster of replys to different peoples questions...

Invites- I sent my RSVPs a year in advance then sent invites in November for my March wedding. If you are doing the dinners where you pick the main course you will need to let them know 30-45 days prior how many of each meal. I had my invites made form Designs by Diane on ETSY... she made my invites, placecards, and programs and saved me hundreds. I also got rave reviews from everyone. Let me know if you want to see pics.

Beach wedding... while i was there I saw 2 beach receptions. As soon as it got dark people were huddling and covering themselves from the wind. It could have just been a windy time I am not sure. We did a private dinner on the beach and I wouldnt even stay for dessert it was too chilly!

DJ... I was very worried about this. I made 3 cd's and gave them to him. He will request someone in the party to do the MC'ing for the initial intros which actually worked better. Ask the comedian in the group. But he did a fantastic job. I dont know about Ipod hookup but the cd's he played and also mixed his music in between. We danced from start to finish.

Sky deck- While we were there they had a wedding on the sky deck.... there setup is very similar to the way they set up the beach ceremonies. It looked beautiful but also windy!

I should have my pro photos back next week and I cant wait to post!

I noticed that you had a 3 tier cake for your reception..but in your review you mentioned that you had a cake for 20-30 people...is that an option, because I only see 2 tiered cakes for 20-30 ppl. How much did you pay for your cake?

I don't really like the 2 tiered cake look, but don't want to pay for something no one will eat...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
