Murmel, do you know if the charge is $250 per event or a total of $250? For instance, is there one $250 charge for ceremony decorations and another $250 for the reception? I need to make sure we bring enough cash.

Thanks.

Jenny, as far as I know, it is one set up fee! Unless you have a ridiculous number of things, they are reasonable. I think there might be an additional fee to set up strings of light from the gazebo to the palm trees, but that's because it's a huge area and requires a lift to it! But if you are just doing lanterns or even just string lights on the gazebo it should be all in one fee.

Plus, when you go to your meeting with the onsite WC, you are free to negotiate the price. If they say it will be $250, tell them you only have $200 cash...see what happens! You might get lucky!

I wish I remember how much we paid, I think it was about $150. We had them set up lanterns, menu cards, name cards, napkins wraps, centrepieces, guest signing table and it was for 63 guests. But I do realize they seem to just say $250 to most people now.

@murmel

Do you work for karisma? or are u just a past bride? Your profile says you're a 2011 bride.

the way I see it...this is supposed to be a high rated resort.  I should not have to wait until I arrive to sort the details...also, I don't want to be traveling with lots of cash.

@Jennypert

according to my coordinator the set up fees are per person per event.  So going by that- they can charge you a total of $500 for the set ups.

I spoke to another bride on one of the forums who purchased one of the memorable moments packages (approx. $3000) she also bright some of her own items and was charged an additional $250.  So judging by that...if the resort can find an excuse to charge you...they are going to do it.

I am a previous bride. I also continue to travel quite frequently and we almost always stay at Karisma resorts now because the food and service is the best we have found.

I understand the frustration about wanting to plan ahead. Do as you wish, I was just offering advice! I was just there in January and spoke with the on site WCs and they are just as helpful as they had been previously..

Regarding with travelling with cash. I agree, don't travel with a lot. So use that to your advantage, as I told Jenny, when you go for your meeting tell them you only brought so much...ie. $200 or $250.

All I can say is that almost all brides have gone through frustration and been upset with the planning/Miami based WC. Once they get to the resort it is wonderful!

      @Lilgabri03

      If you get a Karisma certified travel agent, they should be able to get you a better rate than what you're quoting. I am getting married in June and my rates (which were last years rates since I've been engaged a long time, so it might have changed) are about 170 a night per person for a double room. I am using the Wright Travel Agency. They've been great to work with-- very helpful and accomodating and have given good advice throughout.

      I went to a wedding @ Azul Fives a couple years ago and it was AMAZING- the food was great, customer service was awesome, and the bride was stress free the whole time. that's why i am getting married at Azul Sensatori.

      Hope that helps!

      t-minus 3 months!! ahhhh!

      Well this is some disturbing news…. I'm definitely not going to pay $1000 to set up...

      Out of all the brides who have been married at the Azul how many of you actually paid over $250 to do the set up?
