Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Rachael,

They finally sent our translated docs via fedex.  We were never given a "heads up" that they were on their way, just a door tag on Tuesday that we needed to sign for a letter.  They arrived in the States 08/09/11, and  I picked them up Wednesday 08/10/11.  I would suggest that if you don't receive yours around the 45 day mark to contact your coordinator at LOMAS, as my destinationweddings.com rep never responded at all.  I'm a happy bryteyedbride again!  Best wishes for your big day!

THANK YOU! This is how I remember it looking too...so guests enter from the bottom right, yes? We're doing a cocktail hour before the reception there as well so I'm hoping there's enough space in that bottom right corner. I might need to move the bar closer to that area. We're not doing a head table either, just 7 rounds of 7 or 8 people each.

We did not have a "head table", we just used 2 of the regular tables as our 'head tables'. Also the cake table was put out later in the evening, closer to the DJ's table. Hope this helps.

That would be awesome - thank you!!! Let's see how hers work and then we can figure out how much I owe you :)

We're doing the cake for 30-40 (with about 50 guests) but thinking of reducing it...I pretty much just like the LOOK of a three tier cake...

I am NOT spending over $500 on a cake no one will eat..........I have approx. 50 coming, would a cake for 10-20 do?  or go for the 20-30 people cake?

I want to put my escort cards in a little sand box as well as our tables are named beaches that we've been too together (costa rica, ireland, mexico, etc etc). Do they provide that for free? I think I remember another bride saying yes.

Maybe I am calling it something different (is it place cards?)  I am going to have a little sand box with mini umbrellas with peoples names on it and table number, but obviously someone will have to walk our guests by whereever they are placed first, so people will know where they are sitting....just want to make sure that our guests aren't going from table to table looking for their name card, when the umbrella's will tell them where to go........

re: menu....I think we are going to go with the pick and choose menu, as we liked the sound of the food...your right, when narrowing, and we want plated service, it gives us the set menu and pick and choose....so I think we got it!!!!!   :)

Thanks again!

You're getting so close!!! Happy for you :). I LOVE the beach olympics idea, maybe we'll do something like that on one of the days after the wedding.....

Origianlly didn't want to do it because not everyone was staying at the resort, now it looks like the majority of people are. Going to include: kookie, chap stick, spanish for dummies travel edition and maybe a small bottle of water (not sure on the last one). Also, we have decided to do beach olympics on the Saturday before our wedding, we are both very competitive and athletic, as are most of our guests. I think this will be a fun way for everyone to get to know each other and have fun in the sun!

PS - if you ask your onsite wedding coordinator, they should be able to arrange beach olympics for a private group for like $100! It's awesome :)

Thanks Miriam...  :)

It def. feels good to have some things knocked off....on my way to hot yoga, and then my mom is coming over to help pack up the wedding week survival kits to see what is missing.  (and what we have space for!!!)

I found the emergen-C...thanks.

I can't wait to try on the dress again and cross fingers it fits (ordered a size smaller)...but have just over 2 months to go and plan on losing more.

When was your final fitting?  Do some have it super close to departure date???

And fun with your girlfriends, try not to worry to much, your FI friends will look out for their buddy! Congrats on the weight loss too! That's fantastic.

Our guests arrived from every corner LOL. But everyone did figure out where the table with the seating chart was. I would say the area close to the pool (the bottom edge of my diagram, closest to the beach in real life) would be a great area for the cocktails. But really don't worry too much, the WC there have done this a million times, so I would just trust them how to set it up best.

For the cost of the cake, unless you are super excited about your guests having wedding cake instead of dessert, I would go for the smaller cake. Reasons: 1) cake was very simple in taste, I think they had a few odd choices, strawberry or hazelnut. But I really didn't think the flavour was 'out of this world'. 2) the decorating  abilities of the chef is very lacking. Of all the cakes I saw (3 wedding cakes), I can't say I was really impressed by them. The flowers were all uneven, and floppy, the icing not flat, and the edging sloppy.

Not trying to discourage anyone from having a wedding cake, but try to really keep your expectations low. These are not well made cakes. So personally I wouldn't send the huge dollars on the big cake. We just got a small one (10 person) for the caking cutting and photos, and spent the money on good desserts (which were still much cheaper than the cake!)ml_758.jpgSorry this is the best photo of I have the cake.

Not sure if they have trays, maybe have one the brides going down soon ask. They have lots of things which were left over from other weddings (for instance I left all the glass vases from our centerpieces there, and I know they have helped brides if they need certain items) But again don't know if they have trays....sand...they have lots of! LOL

I know Moon Palace is much bigger but everone says its getting a little dated now?

The only thing I can offer is: Azul family and kid friendly. Great service and food.

Moon is adult only. And if you're doing adults only, than Moon Palace has access and I think golf packages if your guests enjoy that. It is older, but still gets great reviews. If you're doing adults only, I would also suggest the El Dorados (also by Karisma) or Excellence.

Good luck. And if there are specifics you want to know please ask. But it's really hard to make a suggestion without knowing what your needs are.

Glad to hear you found the emergen-C, I kept my eyes open but didn't see any. Where did you end up finding it?

I am sure your dress will fit wonderfully, and seamstresses can really work their magic! I had mine altered/finally fitting about 2 weeks before heading down. But I also used a private seamstress that works out of her home. So she could make me a priority. Not sure how it works at the actual bridal store. If you need a good seamstress, mine is in Brampton.

Hi gals,

I had previously asked my WC about the trays for place cards.  She sent me the picture below and said they are $15 a piece to rent (don't come with flowers).

Also, regarding the OOT bags, just in case you didn't know, the guest rooms have bottled water in them.

Thanks!

Thanks to Miriam & Mwise for all your input about the wedding cakes! We have sinced gone down about 6 people for the ceremony... and know that everyone won't have cake since we're doing Churros for dessert as well. We are going to scale down the size of the cake as well to save some extra money we need right before the big day.

Miriam, what flavors was your cake? I've heard through the grapevine that the Strawberry flavor is pretty good, although I think risky. I love chocolate & Hazelnut so was thinking of doing that but would love feedback on past brides about which flavors worked for you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
