It's brief there aren't too many pictures but it put a huge smile on my face just reading it!

That's awesome Amy.  Did they interview you or only your photog? I am still in awe of your pictures, the different locations and angles that Chris got.  He is amazing, but you really wow'ed everyone with your personal touches and uniqueness.

RSVP Question.

Hey ladies,

So our invitations are going to print, the final thing I need to choose is the RSVP date.  Our wedding is April, the price I have for my guests is only guaranteed for 30 and we are inviting 50+ so not putting a price.  I have no idea when to tell them to RSVP by.  Any suggestions??  We have 22 people coming already and that's immediate family and bridal party, so it will be a suprise who else comes.  I figure some people are all talk and no action.  What did you put for RSVP's?  Thank you!!

p.s going wedding dress shopping tonight, so excited!!cheesy.gif

How did the dress shopping go?

This is a good question w/ no real answer like Maggie said.  I gave everyone 4 months before the wedding as their RSVP - but that was b/c AB was so small that they ended up selling out of rooms 3 1/2 months before my wedding date.  I don't think AS would have that problem.

You have to have spreadsheet finalized 30 days prior to leaving (although these can change even up to the week you are at AS - just make sure you underestimate - I have never heard of a bride getting $ back at the resort for lobbing off a guest or two).  But depending on your personal touches, you might want to know ahead of time.  For example, I bought everything for our OOT bags at least 3 months before our wedding date.  If you are buying favors or pashminas, etc, you might want to know 2-3 months before you leave.

I am not sure if there is a right or wrong answer here. I basically planned on including a card in my invitations a RSVP regrets only card with no date. I went back and forth about it. I decided I would just communicate with my guests about the importance of booking early and like you I already have deposits down for the family and some close friends.

Communication is key!  I sent out a lot of group emails urging people to make the decision sooner rather than later!

If I remember correctly, they offered beach BBQ lunch everyday from 12-3pm. It was mostly hamburgers, chicken, a few salads, fries, etc. Hope that helps.

FI and I have decided that we Will be switching to EDR for the 2nd week...so excited!!!

Do you know if they ever have any type of BBQ at night?  We're not really having a real "Welcome/Rehearsal" Dinner but we thought something like that would be laid back and fun for everyone.

The 50% could definitely be applied during your wedding stay as well!  I just figured most people have their wedding weeks fully booked, and wouldnt want to add another task.  But, if you're there 10 days...why not?!  I just sent you all of the info on the program.

Another idea I hadn't really thought of...you guys could use it at another resort for their honeymoon?  (Great idea Marla!) My maid of honor used it at El Dorado for her honeymoon and said it was fabulous!

Oh no!  Sorry about that.  I hadn't even looked at sizing! :(

There's one you can pay for that has more but the offer for free is a romantic dinner, champagne breakfast and 15% off spa services.  Descent for free!

And, I have to report some awful news which is hindering my desire to plan my wedding.  My daughter is 13 years old and has a mother and daughter writing malicious awful obscenities about her on facebook.  They're not written to her, just about her.  I understand kid drama but for an adult to be involved and making threats, i.e. "I'm gonna smack her eyeballs out of her head."  This is some real life BS!  I can't even describe how difficult this is.  A mother's heart aches for her child's pain more than her own.  I am a wreck and just trying to make it stop so my baby girl can be the happy, go lucky kid that she is.  :(

Sorry, just needed to vent!

That's awful!  Some people are just awful and evil...kids can be mean but when the mother is doing it...you know thta's where her daughter learned it from. It's sick!

I would make sure to print off copies of everything that is there...if it gets completely out of hand you may want to go to the cops and you'll need that for proof.

I wish I had some advice or something else to say that could help...but I don't...But we're all here if you need to talk.

What we did is used the hotel deadlines as RSVP dates give or take a few days. Our original contract was for 20 rooms deposit due june 10, so we sent out std postcards and created a website with the 1st deposit date of june 1st. We also noted that if you did not put down a deposit on that date we could not guarantee a room. We ended up booking about 30 rooms. Also the hotel is very slow in getting back and collecting their money. YES you are correct ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE ALL TALK! we currently have 70 people booked for our wedding and out of the 70 only 8 are my family and friends so expect that most of the people who said that they would come may not.

hope this helps :) good luck

Hey girls, I have a question...  I posted a comment on here at 8am this morning, but now its gone?!?  Is there a master person out there that can delete our posts?  I had just said a couple of other things about the 50% off program with Karisma, so maybe it was something vendors don't want posted on here?

Can you guys let me know if there are rules like this?  Or maybe my computer just has a glitch and I'm just being paranoid!  :)

Jaime

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
